When Grandad Came To Tea With The #Afterschoolchefs

Maxwell has been getting back into the routine of going to preschool. Although he is not there all day, being a active 2 year old can take its toll and Maxwell often comes home hungry. A few weeks back Birds Eye sent Maxwell and I some vouchers, we were asked to come up with a special meal that showed us getting back into our tea time routine using Birdseye products. Maxwell decided that he would love to invite Grandad round for dinner to celebrate his first month back at preschool.

Maxwell sent Grandad a invite to invite him for tea and it went a little like this:

Grandad you work hard, we would like to invite you for tea,
We have a great meal to feed you and the meal includes plenty of peas,
There will be laughter at our table and plenty of stories being told,
You're one in a million, you are pure gold,
I will cook you this meal with plenty of ease
Birds Eye products will hopefully leave you feeling pleased!

Grandad accepted Maxwell's invite and Grandad came round tonight for tea. Maxwell wanted to fix Grandad up a meal quickly so they could spend the rest of the evening playing. Maxwell decided to cook Grandad waffles, peas and chicken fingers with a side of healthy salad.

Maxwell carefully laid the chicken fingers on the tray as well as the waffles. Grandad asked Maxwell if he could count the food onto the tray which Maxwell did with great success. Maxwell then carefully measured water out in his measuring jug and then poured the water into a saucepan, Maxwell then added peas into the saucepan. With a little help Maxwell put the tray into the oven and the peas on to the hob to cook them. I then turned the oven and hob on to ensure Maxwell did not burn himself.

Whilst Maxwell and Grandad awaited for their food to be cooked, I gave them both a plate to make a funny face out of salad, Maxwell loved doing this and before he got to eat his tea he decided he would like to snack on his favorite salad.

After a short while the food was ready and Maxwell decided to arrange the meal on to the plate for Grandad and him to enjoy. Maxwell decided to create a funny face with Birdseye peas, Birdseye chicken fingers, Birdseye Waffles and some cucumber. Grandad commented that he was not sure on the peas however after a little persuasion from Maxwell, Grandad ate all the pea's up as well as his tasty dinner.

Maxwell was ever so pleased with the dinner that he made Grandad. He was proud that the dinner had been a great success and was extremely happy that it had not taken long to cook as this let him and Grandad have lots of play time before bed!

Birdseye have always been a great family favorite of mine and I am able to say that I have tried over 70% of there products. Birds Eye ensure they sell a wide variety of products, for different tastes at competitive prices. Since eating Birds Eye products I have not found any nasty bits in them and I have been incredibly impressed by them.

A Week Of Learning And New Experiences

  1. Maxwell's speech is coming on leaps and bounds
  2. Maxwell adores role play
  3. Maxwell is trying different foods and is enjoying them
  4. Maxwell can nearly ride a bike (with stabilizers)
  5. Maxwell loves cuddling on the sofa
Since our session with the speech therapist Maxwell's speech is coming on leaps and bounds. Maxwell is still not able to put words together however he is saying lots more words and has started to reply to us using the words No and Yes. It is great to see a improvement in Maxwell's speech however I am still left feeling frustrated that it took us this long to get the help for Maxwell which we asked for months ago.

Maxwell has been doing a lot of role play this week and loves it. We have been using lots of kitchen accessories to do the role play with and it keeps Maxwell entertained for hours. At bath time we even do role play and duck has learnt to drink our of Maxwell's bath cups. It makes me happy to know he has a lovely wooden kitchen with lot of accessories being given to him at Xmas.

This week Maxwell has tried lots of new foods. Maxwell now adores feeding himself, whatever I seem to put in front of him he likes to have a good go at eating it which is fantastic. Maxwell still enjoys eating veg, salad and fruit however I am hoping he will start eating main meals which Ben and I eat.

Maxwell had a mini evaluation this week at preschool and we found out that Maxwell can nearly ride a bike with stabilizers. Seeing as Maxwell is not even 3 yet, I am so proud of Maxwell's new development. Maxwell has a balance bike and a trike however I am hoping to get him his own bike with stabilizers soon which he can ride around on.

Now the weather has got that little bit colder, Maxwell adores sitting on the sofa. He loves to watch his favorite TV shows, cuddle up with a snack and sit calmly down. I love that he sits so quietly and I love that he loves to snuggle.

5 for under £5

It has been 2 weeks since I last did my 5 for £5 and since I shared the last lot with you I have had a few requests for children's bits. These items would be perfect for Christmas and I am in love with a few items which I have purchased. The items are suitable for a variety of ages. Enjoy!

I have always loved these number trains and Maxwell actually has one on his window ledge. I think they look lovely in childrens rooms but I also think they are great for children to play with. I love the bright colours on this one and I think it is great value for money.

I remember Maxwell using these a lot when he was smaller and now he is bigger, he uses these stacking cups in the bath. They are great to transfer water from cup to cup and of course they are brilliant to stack on top of on another.
Maxwell was bought one of these for a recent holiday and it kept him entertained for ages. He loves spinning it around on the wooden floor and he enjoyed trying to learn the colours from the coloured ends of the toy. This would be a perfect small stocking filler.

Personally I am a huge fan of the wooden food sets however we have recently purchased this so we can do lots of role play at home with Maxwell. I think this set is great as you are able to cut the food and I think it would be great to teach children the different types of fruit you get.

This is my favorite item featured on my 5 for under £5 this week and I have just purchased this to go in Maxwell's new playhouse. I adore wooden toys and I know that Maxwell would adore playing with this so it would be a huge hit in our household.  At a bargain price I could not resist buying it!

A Trip To Our Local Clarks Shoe Shop

At the weekend we went to our local Clarks store in Whitley Village to pick Maxwell some new shoes for the fast approaching Autumn/Winter. Before heading there I had a little look at the shoes I thought may look nice on Maxwell on the Clarks website, there was a lot of choice, a wide range of prices to suit everyone's budget and a whole load of designs. After a long look on their website I had in mind what I was after.

When we got to the Clarks store in Whitley we were greeted by friendly staff. We were told to take a number and we were asked to wait on comfy seating, we were then asked to wait for our number to be called out and we were told we then would be seen by a staff member who would measure Maxwell's feet. We waited a short amount of time and we were then seen.

The staff member measured Maxwell's feet and we found that Maxwell's feet had grown half a size. When Maxwell was getting his feet measured it was great to see that the staff member captured Maxwell's attention, it was also great to see how thorough she was when she measured his feet. She wrote the sizes of Maxwell's feet on a little bit of paper and we were then asked what shoe's we liked from Clarks huge range. We showed the member of staff the shoes we liked and she went off into the store room to find some in Maxwell's size.

We were presented with 2 lovely pairs of shoes which Ben and I both liked for Maxwell, one pair was Clark's boys GORE-TEX boots and the other pair were Clarks boys suede boots. Maxwell tried both pairs of shoes on and they both looked lovely however we had to decide on one pair, after a lot of deliberation we decided to choose the GORE-TEX boots for Maxwell.

The FleetUpGTXCognac Leather GORE-TEX boots which we purchased for Maxwell had lots of features which we loved. The boots are waterproof which means that they are perfect for Maxwell to wear at preschool and to and from preschool in wetter weather, the boots are breathable which is great if Maxwell's feet are to get hot and the boots also have a zip on which makes them easy to get on and off however it also means that they will stay secure on Maxwell's feet. The FleetUpGTXCognac Leather GORE-TEX boots were priced at £50 which is a little more than I usually spend on Maxwell's shoes but given the boot's features and the style of them I would be happy to pay for the boots again in the next size up.

Whilst we were at Clarks we also picked Maxwell a pair of wellies up. We picked the simple ones for Maxwell which were priced at just £10. The wellies came in either yellow and black or blue and red. We choose the blue and red one's for Maxwell and Maxwell is looking forward to wearing his new wellies to preschool in the wetter weather.

You are able to view a wide range of boys boots over on the Clarks website. You can also view the wide range of boys boots in a Clarks store near you. I am extremely happy with Maxwell's new shoes and I could not fault the staff member who helped us when picking Maxwell's shoes. She was friendly, fast but also shared lots of information with us about what she was doing and about the shoes which she picked for us. I find that Clarks shoes are great value for money along with the service which you received from their staff members.

I did not receive any financial reward for writing this review.
However we did receive the product for review purposes. Everything written in this post is my own, honest opinion.

A Week Of Learning And New Experiences

  1. Max has been having fun outside
  2. Maxwell's speech appointment went well
  3. Maxwell celebrated Great Grandads 86th Birthday
  4.  Maxwell is looking forward to getting a new wardrobe and new shoes
  5. Maxwell has a small addiction to stickers.
This week Maxwell has been having a lot of fun outside. Maxwell and I have been out and about a lot and we have spent some time going to a few of our local parks. We are lucky where we live and around us we have around 3 parks which are walking distance. Maxwell's favorite park has a choice of two slides, a car, swings and other play equipment. This week we decided to hike there and Maxwell had tons of fun, on our way back Maxwell had lots of fun jumping in puddles!

Maxwell's speech has been a big concern of mine recently, I have been loosing sleep over it and worrying madly. On Friday we went to see a speech therapist, who along with another lady decided that although Maxwell did have a delay, it was nothing major and they would hope he would not be on there books for long. It was a great session and it was a huge relief to know there was very little wrong with Maxwell. We have a few activities which we need to do at home to encourage Maxwell's speech and the speech therapists will be attending Maxwell's nursery sessions in a few weeks time to see how he is getting on.

This week we celebrated my Grandads 86th Birthday which meant we got to see my parents when we visited my Grandad. It was brilliant to spend time with my parents and Grandad and Maxwell really enjoyed himself. He spent hours playing bat and ball with my Dad and he loved giving cuddles to my Mum. My Grandad also seemed to enjoy himself, he was very spoilt with presents and was also given a large amount of cake!

Now it is nearly Autumn time, I am looking to update Maxwell's wardrobe. Yesterday  I wrote about a few items I would love to buy for him to keep him looking cool and trendy but this weekend will see us hit the shops and get Maxwell some new Autumn clothing. We will also be visiting Clarks to get him some shoes which will be suitable for him to attend preschool in as I would hate him to go in his Converse trainers and allow his feet to get wet and muddy. We are looking to buy Maxwell some nice leather shoes that will be suitable for him to wear at preschool but also suitable for him to walk to preschool in. We will also be looking to buy him some spare wellies to keep at preschool.

Maxwell has a big sticker addiction, this week we have seen Maxwell complete a sticker book, a activity book full of stickers and use lots of stickers out of 2 magazines. It is great he has started to show a interest in stickers and I am looking forward to this week, when I am able to show him that stickers can be made into art work.

Feeling Blue With Autumn

Autumn has started setting in and I have been on the look out for some fab new items for Maxwell's wardrobe. The weather is starting to get that little bit colder and Maxwell is in need of a few new items to attend preschool in. Every item above, I adore and I will be making quite a few purchases! This post is blue themed however some items have a little splash of colour.

Jeans
Next is my favorite place to buy Maxwell jeans. Only this week, whilst at preschool Maxwell has managed to ruin 2 pairs of jeans. All his Next jeans however have taken everything preschool has had to offer them and they are still ok to wear however they are getting a little short on the leg. I am a massive fan of skinny jeans on Maxwell so these jeans are a must have and I will be purchasing them in the next few weeks.

Maxwell already has a pair of Joules Wellies however I have to say they are getting slightly small so Maxwell will need a new pair soon. I adore the fun design on these wellies and I think they would look fab with the jeans that I have picked for Maxwell. I often wait for Joules to have a sale and try and grab Maxwell a pair of wellies at a bargain price, here's hoping they will have a sale soon!

Marks and Spencer's caters for all the family however they also cater well for children. Since Maxwell was born he has been in and out of Marks and Spencer clothing and it has never failed me. I am in love with this jumpers design and it is something I will be buying to keep Maxwell looking trendy but warm this winter.

I am a huge fan of duffle coats and as soon as I set eyes on this coat, I knew it was something that Maxwell needed in his wardrobe. Although it is not practical for all types of weathers, it is cute, trendy, looks warm and is perfect to wear with a nice pair of jeans.

Hat Set
I adore this hat set and I think it is a big bargain. I love the colour which is splashed over the set and I personally think the set is something which would not only keep Maxwell warm but also go with many of his outfits. The hat set is a bargain and I will be buying  a set for Maxwell to accompany him on cold days out.

30 ways to save £1

Money can often be tight and sometimes it can be hard to save but here I have a list of 30 different ways that enable you to save £1 in money.  Some of these ways can be harder than others but I find that most of the ideas are easy to complete.
  1. Sign up for loyalty cards. Remember to use them each time you shop. They are free to sign up to and you quickly accumulate points worth real money to spend.
  2. When sending post always look at couriers online before going to the post office and send with the best value.
  3. Keep wallpaper and paint samples. I  have a lot in Maxwell's craft box and they come in handy when we do crafts.
  4. Read the news online rather than buying a printed newspaper. It is free and you are still able to read the same thing.
  5. Enter competitions. You have to be in it to win it! If you win, the item cost you nothing.
  6. If you have items laying around your home that you do not need try selling them at a carboot, Amazon, Ebay or on a Facebook page.
  7. If your selling on eBay, wait until free insertion week, no fee to put items up.
  8. Cut out all coupons you see or print any you see online. It can save you lots of penny's every week.
  9. Use your local library to borrow books, games, cd's, dvd's rather than buying them.
  10. Get a railcard if you use the train or get a season ticket if you use the bus.
  11. For short journeys walk. It will save petrol and money and get you fit.
  12. When you need to go shopping, try parking somewhere a little bit further away from the centre which will either be cheaper or free
  13.  Limit yourself to only going to the cinema on Wednesdays with the Orange Wednesday offer at Odeon or go on a Tuesday evening to Cineworld when it is cheap.
  14. Never go to cash machines that charge fees for withdrawing money.
  15. When it’s cold leave the heating off and invest in a blanket to keep you warm.
  16. Do not buy services like sky. Make the most of iplayer, ITV player and other simular services. They’re free and often have some great films on there as well.
  17. Freecycle and Freegle. Both of these sites/ groups allow people to get rid of things they don't want any more. Everything on these sites are free.
  18. Make a packed lunch instead of buying expensive food at School or Work or when on days out.
  19. Recycle your old phone, you could make some money.
  20. Always switch the lights off if you're not in the room.
  21. Before you go to bed make sure you turn off all your appliances
  22. Search online for discount codes or free delivery codes before shopping online.
  23. If your in a restaurant ask for tap water - it's free.
  24. If you need your eye's tested, look for free eye tests.
  25. Buy designer clothing at outlet stores. We have picked up plenty of bargains in these for less than half price.
  26. When traveling use cheap airlines such as Ryanair or Easyjet.
  27. When you need your hair doing dye it. It is far cheaper than going to the hairdressers.
  28. In the January sales buy gifts, decorations, cards and wrap in advance.
  29. Check the clearance sections in supermarkets. Theres often some great bargains.
  30. Look out for baby events in supermarkets. Buy things in bulk. It makes things a lot cheaper.

Johnson’s Baby First Touch Products

Before Maxwell was born I already had a idea of what products I would use on his skin. I was aware that baby's skin was sensitive and I hated the thought of putting something on Maxwell's skin which he may react to. After talking to other parents I heard lots of positive things about the brand Johnson's, since Maxwell was born we have used Johnson's bath products. Maxwell's skin has always been soft and he has never had a reaction to their products.

Maxwell and I were lucky enough to receive a bundle of the new First Touch range from Johnson's. The range included: All in one wash, moisturising lotion, barrier cream, shampoo and wipes. The new First Touch range is a brand new fragrance-free range developed for newborns that includes everything mums need to cleanse and protect their baby’s delicate skin from top to toe.

First of all we tried the wipes. Over time we have tried lots of different brands of wipes and to date we have been extremely happy with the Johnson's brand. Previously we have tried other brands and have found that the wipes are to wet or to dry and tend to come out in clumps which make it hard when changing nappies and cleaning messy hands and faces. When we tried the new First Touch range wipes we found that they were wet enough, did not come out in clumps and they did not split. They were perfect to use on Maxwell's skin and came in a large pack of 64 which means that they would last over a long period of time.

Secondly we tried the  First Touch shampoo and all in one wash. Maxwell is a huge fan of baths and adores nothing more than splashing around in a lot of bubbles. The all in one wash can be carefully poured into the bath due to its great pouring hole which is fairly small. This allows the all in one wash to flow into the bath instead of going into the bath clumpy which makes it harder to break down so less bubbles form. The First Touch shampoo was also a hit in our household, I used very little shampoo to wash Maxwell's hair however the shampoo seemed to spread out well and a lot of bubbles were formed meaning Maxwell's hair had a good wash. I liked the fact that these products were fragrance free as after bath time I do not always want to smell a strong smell of bath products on Maxwell's skin.

The Johnson’s Baby First Touch range is available at many supermarkets, chemists and also Boots.

A Week Of Learning And New Experiences

  1. Maxwell's bedroom has had a transformation
  2. Maxwell has gone back to preschool
  3. Maxwell can now say part of the alphabet and his favorite word is no
  4. Maxwell has been a little poorly this week
  5. Maxwell has enjoyed having his Daddy at home
This week we decided to decorate Maxwell's bedroom. Since we have moved in Maxwell has had a purple room so we thought it was about time we painted it so it fitted in well with the Disney Car themed room he has. We painted the walls cream and decided on a blue feature wall. Overall we think the room looks great now we have added a splash of colour! I am looking forward to doing some more bits and pieces to it including making some cool framed letters.

Maxwell has gone back to preschool and has settled in well. This week Maxwell has started sitting down at snack time and has enjoyed milk as well as snacks with the other children. We have also heard that Maxwell loves to play outside and enjoys playing with the cars at preschool. Due to speech therapy we may have to change Maxwell's mornings around as the speech sessions clash with the mornings which he attends preschool however we are hoping this will not make much of a impact on him.

Every week Maxwell's speech seems to develop a little and this week Maxwell can now say part of the alphabet. Maxwell manages to get up to g however this is a massive step for Maxwell. Maxwell has also learnt the word no and most answers are now no. The only time Maxwell does not say no is when Peppa Pig is involved or he is being offered food.

This week Maxwell has been a little tired, he came home from preschool on Tuesday and by Wednesday he had a cold. His eyes were very sore and Maxwell spent some time cuddled up on the sofa with a blanket, some cereal and a drink. Secretly we think he loved being fussed over. Maxwell is now back on the mend and seems to be back to his good little self.

This week Ben had a well earned week off (his first time off since April) and Maxwell adored having his Daddy home. Due to Ben working nights, Ben does not get to spend as much time with Maxwell like most Dad's manage to so it was great to see them together, having fun and even going out for a hour here and there and giving me a tiny break. Maxwell can not wait to spend more time with Ben on his next week off which is in a couple of months. For now we will continue to make the most of our weekends.

5 for under £5

A new addition to Mummy To The Max is 5 for under £5. Each item which is shown in this post is under £5 and can be found on various websites. I will be doing 5 for £5 every 2 weeks. This week's 5 for under £5 is items which you may want around your home. The items are suitable for a variety of ages. Enjoy!

I adore these LED lights and I believe not only are they perfect for rooms but they are also great for a relaxing bath, meal and even to have ready for a emergency power cut. These are incredibly cheap but also at a brilliant price. These LED lights come in tons of different designs to suit every room in the house.

This is a new addition to our house and for just £1.91 I think it is super cute. These come in a variety of colours and there are also designs which are able to hold 2 sets of keys. We adore our new sparrow and house in our hallway, instead of drilling to the wall we have used double sided tape to hold the house and sparrow in place.

These containers are sold as makeup containers however I also think they are perfect to add to a bedroom/nursery for little bits such as nappies, nappy bags and even wet wipes. These containers come and go in different colours so check every day to see if they have the colour you are after.

I fell in love with these not only because of the price but I think they are adorable to gift friends and family but to also have in your own home. Most households use salt and pepper so these would be perfect to impress visitors at dinner time but also look stylish in the kitchen when not in use.

This item is adorable. The rug is suitable for both boys and girls and would be a cute addition to a nursery/bedroom. For just £3.95 this item is a bargain. The cute bear design would be perfect to even add into playrooms or a play area.

Smash & Nude Food Movers Review

To return back to preschool Maxwell was sent some lovely items from Smash and Nude Food Movers. Not only were we sent a lovely, bright, toddler friendly lunch bag to accompany Maxwell back to preschool but we were also sent some lovely food storage containers to use in his new lunch bag and at home.

I always love to choose Maxwell unique items to use at preschool, instead of character items which we find many children have.  We like to buy Maxwell bright, colourful, fun, unique items which we know Maxwell can identify easily. When Maxwell's new lunch bag arrived from Smash and Nude Food Movers I knew instantly that it would fit in with Maxwell's personality and I knew that no-one at Maxwell's preschool would have the same lunch box. The lunch bag we were sent was an amazing 3D bright green crocodile!

The lunch bag is a good quality item and it is clear that the item is made to last. The material is thick, the zip has thick teeth so is unlikely to get caught and broken and the lunch bag has a good size handy handle for Maxwell to keep hold of the lunch bag on his walks to preschool. The lunch bag is large in size and includes a main compartment, zipped pocket front and a reusable 500ml plastic drink bottle. The lunch bag also is insulated which is a great extra to have as it means Maxwell's food will stay chilled.

As a added bonus Smash and Nude Food Movers also sent us a selection of food storage containers. The idea of the containers is to eliminate the wastage of packaging, instead of spending money and using sandwich bags you are able to simply buy Smash and Nude Food Movers storage containers and use the containers over and over again. Not only are the containers great for eliminating waste they are also great for packing leftovers and also limits portions to healthy sizes in order to cut down on food waste.

We were sent a mini rubbish free lunchbox which is perfect to fit into the Smash and Nude Food Movers lunchbox. The mini lunchbox has two separate storage areas, one area is perfect to fit a sandwich in and the other area is perfect to add a range of snacks in. As a added extra the lunchbox is leak proof and is also easy clean due to its easy to wipe plastic material.

The last two products which we were sent are two very handy products. We were sent rubbish free snack tubes and a rubbish free yogurt mover. The snack tubes are 3 little tubs which all stack together however they also detach from one another if you are only looking to use one tub. These tubs are ideal to store dry fruit in, small crackers and even dips for lunchbox items such as bread sticks. The tubs are spill proof which is perfect if you are wanting to use the tubs for liquid items. The yogurt mover is one of my favorite items which we were sent due to its uniqueness. The yogurt mover is of course perfect for yogurt, the pot comes with a fab spoon which is reusable and is perfect for eating on the go, the pot also has a freeze gel wall which means that what ever is placed in the pot will stay cooler for longer.

Overall I was really impressed with the quality of the Smash and Nude Food Movers products. I would 100% reccomend their products to other parents. Their products not only save money over time but they are also eco friendly. Their products are well thought out and are priced reasonably for the quality of the item which you get. Smash and Nude Food Movers products can be found in all good supermarkets. You are able to find more information here.

Max's Birthday Wishlist

It is Maxwell's Birthday in December and  I already have most of his presents. I wanted to share Maxwell's wishlist with you all. All the items are perfect for a 3 year old and I hope Maxwell has the best birthday yet!

I have wanted to buy Maxwell a wooden kitchen for a long time however I found them to be pretty expensive. After a lot of searching I find this one for a bargain price of £65 instead of £150. I can not wait to give it to Maxwell for his Birthday! My Sister and Parents have bought Maxwell lots of accessories so I know he's going to have great fun playing.

We are huge fans of Orchard toy games and I managed to pick this game up for just £3.80! I managed to pick some others just as cheap and I have put them away for the next few Christmas's. I love Orchard toy games as they are fun but are also educational.

Maxwell's best friend is his Mr Bean bear, so I thought it would be cool to get him another one with a different outfit on. I love how British the bear is and I love his cute little outfit. I know Maxwell will adore him as soon as he sets his eyes on him.

Maxwell is a huge fan of Peppa Pig and has already had a Peppa Pig sound book however unfortunately Maxwell broke the book. Maxwell adores pirates so this will be the perfect book to keep him entertained at bedtime.

Maxwell loves bath time and I was fortunate to win this set of sea buddies. I think these are the perfect present as there are so many buddies that the pack can be split and used later on. I love the sea animals and I love the bright fun colours. Perfect for a toddler!

I picked this game up for around £3 and I thought it would be brilliant to teach Maxwell how to get dressed but  I also thought it would improve his counting skills as well as his matching skills. Maxwell loves playing games so I hope this is a huge hit.

Milkshake! Stars DVD Review

There is not a day that goes past where Maxwell does not get up in the morning and heads to tune into his favorite TV channel! Channel 5's Milkshake has played a big part of Maxwell's mornings for a while now and he would be lost if he did not get to see his favorite TV characters. Each morning Maxwell is entertained by the likes of Thomas The Tank Engine, Ben and Holly and his favorite, Peppa Pig.

This week Maxwell was thrilled when the new Milkshake! Stars DVD dropped onto our doormat. His first reaction was to scream when he saw Peppa Pig and his second reaction was to get the DVD into our DVD player as soon as possible. Once the DVD was safely in the DVD player, Maxwell sat for around 2 hours enjoying everything the DVD had to give.

The DVD was full of 15 exciting episodes made up of the Milkshake Stars. Peppa Pig was a clear winner when it came to asking Maxwell what his favorite episode was on the DVD but Ben and Holly came a close second. As a parent I was also happy to watch the Milkshake! Stars DVD and I was happy to relive some of my childhood favorite TV programmes such as Thomas The Tank Engine and Fireman Sam. The DVD also included stars like Little Princess, Bert and Ernie, Bananas in Pyjamas and many more!

As a parent I can happily say that the DVD was full of action, comedy, adventures and lots of little learning curves. The DVD is perfect for not only watching in the home but also to take on long journeys in the car or even on holidays further afield due to the short but entertaining episodes.

The DVD goes on sale on the 8th September so keep your eye out for it, it is worth the money due to it providing a lot of entertainment and if your child is a Milkshake fan they are sure to be impressed! If you are counting down the days for its release why not preorder it on Amazon for just £7?

If the DVD is not good enough for your little one, I bring you further exciting news! Milkshake is going on tour! There are many venues you can to attend to up and down the country, it looks like a great show and a lot of fun for all the Milkshake lovers out there. 4 Weeks Of Learning And New Experiences

  1. Maxwell has made the transition from cot to bed
  2. Maxwell has started to try and dress him self
  3. Maxwell has had a lovely summer
  4. Maxwell is looking forward to going back to preschool
  5. Maxwell adores dancing
What a busy 4 weeks we have had! You may have not seen but me and Maxwell have been up to all sorts of activities. We made the most of the 4 weeks and we managed to do so many activities together which was lovely. I have not updated my readers on how Maxwell has been getting on so I thought it was about time I did a large update.

A few months ago Ben and I decided to buy Max a cot bed, we had it delivered to Ben's Nan's house and we forgot that it was there for many months. Me and Ben discussed Maxwell's transition to cot and bed and we were a little worried, however we need not be. Maxwell has adapted to his new bed very well and since Maxwell has made the transition to his big boys bed we have only had one night where Maxwell refused to go to bed and played up for 2 hours. Throughout those 2 hours I took Maxwell back to his bed each time and showed him no attention. He soon go the message that he was not going to win the fight and ever since Maxwell has stayed in his bed. Maxwell goes to bed at 7am at night and sleeps all the way through to around 6am in the morning which is brilliant. We are both extremely proud at how well Maxwell has settled into being in a big boys bed and he has been rewarded with Peppa Pig magazines.

Recently Maxwell has started to want to be come very independent and he is now at the stage where he tries to dress himself as well as put his own shoes on. Maxwell is able to put his own shorts on, his own wellies and will attempt to put any shoes on that have Velcro on, he also takes his own socks off and tries to help get his t-shirt on and off. It will not be long before Maxwell is picking his own outfits out in the morning and getting dressed himself.

If I am honest I was dreading summer a little. I didn't want to have a boring summer with Maxwell and I wanted to make it as fun as possible for him.  In the end me and  Maxwell got up to lots of activities, all which were a lot of fun. I have found new activities to do with Maxwell which I now will keep doing with him and I am looking forward to next years summer holidays so we can make more amazing memory's!

Maxwell returns to preschool tomorrow and I think he has missed going a little. It took a while for Maxwell to adjust to not going so he will be surprised that he will be returning. On his return Maxwell will be going for 2 mornings a week instead of the one and in the last few weeks we have found that we are able to rent our house for another year meaning Maxwell will not have to move preschool's which is fantastic news as I like to keep him as settled as much as possible.

Maxwell has started to really take a interest in music and he now loves to dance, slide and jump around the room when music comes on. The video below shows how mad about music he is.

Our Experience At Our Health Visitor Check Up

Last month a letter dropped through the door, a letter I had been dreading. Maxwell had been invited to see our local Health visitor. They wanted him to go in for his 2 and a half year check up and I have to admit I was nervous. Anyone who meets Maxwell knows hes a clever, happy, well behaved little boy but for months I have perhaps had a feeling in my mind that not all was right with his speech. Many children of Maxwell's age are able to speak in sentences however Maxwell is only able to say words and goes as far as counting to 3 and identifying all his body parts. Although I had taken Maxwell to the doctors to speak to them about the lack of speech they simply not helped us and have shrugged it off and have told me Maxwell does not speak as much as other children he has had "little interaction" with other children, taking this advice in we put Maxwell into preschool. Since attending preschool we have found Maxwell's speech has came on a little however he is still quite limited on the words he is able to say.

The day before we were due to go to Maxwell's appointment I checked on Google to see what other parents thought about these health visitor appointments and the reviews did not boost my confidence about Maxwell's upcoming one. I am quite a worrier and wanted to prepare myself for any thing negative that may happen at the appointment, I was also interested to see what children were expected to do in these appointments. I read a handful of reviews and I was a little worried as I had read many negative things, people saying that children are made to perform but wont perform and  reading about upset parents who have been shouted down. I did not want to go to the appointment however I knew I needed to go to get answers about Maxwell's speech.

The day arrived and in a nutshell I had nothing to worry about!
As soon as we got there we were made to feel welcome and Maxwell was presented with a lot of activities to do. Maxwell was not made to sit down and perform in front of the Health Visitor, there was no strict schedule or routine in actual fact it was a very laid back appointment that actually made me feel better about myself as a parent. Maxwell was presented with lots of toys to play with and was allowed to play with them freely. Max saw some building blocks and by himself he built a tower, Maxwell saw a little cup and decided to feed the baby which was sat in front of him some tear. Maxwell was presented with some laces and beads and by himself he decided to thread the beads, Maxwell was given puzzles to complete and he completed them at such a high standard he was given harder ones to do, which again he completed. Whilst Maxwell played myself and the Health Visitor chatted.

The lady spoke to me and asked how Maxwell was getting on in areas such as eating, interacting with others and his behavior, every answer I gave her seemed correct and she had no worries about anything. She made comments on how well Maxwell had done with the jigsaw puzzles and how she had never seen a child complete them so quickly, we were told that Maxwell's motor skills were brilliant for his age and I felt a huge sense of pride come over me. We then got onto the topic of his speech. I told her our issues with Maxwell's lack of vocabulary and I told her how I felt that the doctor we had gone to see months ago had brushed us under a carpet. The health visitor was extremely helpful and agreed with us there was a lack of vocabulary coming from Maxwell and she was keen to get him referred to a special speech specialist.

For a while I have been blaming myself about Maxwell's speech however we were told Maxwell's lack of vocabulary was nothing to do with us as parents and there were plenty of other reasons why Maxwell was speaking so little. As it stands we have a appointment mid September and I am hoping we can get to the cause of Maxwell speaking so little. It is a relief to have been listened to and although some people may have had a bad experience at there child's 2 and a half year checkup ours was nothing but a positive experience. I am proud to see that although Maxwell's speech isn't great, he is completing tasks on a higher level than some children his age and I am proud to see that he can play independently. I will keep you updated on how our speech appointments go.
