Fun Halloween Crafts With Baker Ross

A few weeks ago Maxwell and I were sent a lovely box of goodies from Baker Ross. The box was full of Halloween crafts. After having a look at them I was excited to start crafting with Maxwell. Inside the box there were some fun 3D Halloween Kits as well as some Halloween Scratch Art Masks. Maxwell and I settled down to complete the crafts together.

We first of all started with the 3D Halloween Kits. Inside the kit there was 4 different designs to complete. Maxwell needed quite a lot of help with this activity due to the fact that there were lots of fiddly parts, however the 3D Halloween Kits did not take us long to complete.

Maxwell and I simply arranged the paper to make a round spider body shape. The spider was attached together with a split pin, we then went on to attach the spiders legs with a split pin. Before attaching the legs Maxwell and I crinkled the legs. At first I thought we may need to use glue to attach the spiders mouth and eyes to the spiders body however the mouth and eyes had sticky packs, this made it simple for Maxwell to place the mouth and eyes on the spider.

Finally we attached a piece of ribbon to the top of the spider, this allowed the spider to hang. I was pleasantly surprised with how well the 3D kits turned out and we will be using the decorations on Halloween to scare any cheeky trick or treat guests.

After completing the 3D Kits, Maxwell and I decided to make the scratch art masks. I was really excited to create these masks with Maxwell, Maxwell needed very little help with this activity so Maxwell and I decided to create a mask each. I created a cat whilst Maxwell created a pumpkin.

The masks looked like a simple black plain mask however there were sticks in the packs to create fun designs on the masks. All you had to do was simply use the sticks to scratch away at the masks to make designs. Maxwell decided to draw all over his whilst I carefully added cat ears, whiskers and created glowing eyes however once completed the masks both looked fantastic.

Once we had completed the mask we simply attached a piece of elastic to them to ensure that they would fit round our faces. The masks fitted around both mine and Maxwell's faces and I think the end result looked brilliant.

Overall we were very happy with our Baker Ross crafts and once again were impressed by there fantastic quality. If you would like to buy the scratch masks you are able to buy them here. If you are interested in purchasing the 3D decoration kits you are able to buy them here.

Sorting Game #31daysoffun

Maxwell loves to learn and he also loves to play games so today I managed to come up with an educational game for Maxwell to play with. The game encouraged Maxwell to count as well as match colours up, he was amused with the game for around 30 minutes and the game was made out of materials I had in the house.

The game was made up of 3 things, plastic cheap cups I had picked up in Asda, some stretchy animals Baker Ross had sent us and some fish foam stickers which Baker Ross had also sent us. All the items cost me under £5 and they made up a fun game for Maxwell.

To create the game, I laid 3 plastic cups out on a flat space and in front of the cups I added 3 bright coloured stretchy animals. I then gave Maxwell the foam fish and asked him to put them in the cups and match them with the stretchy animal which was in front of them. Although Maxwell got a few wrong, he enjoyed the task and even started to count the fish out.

This game can be made up with many objects which you may find around the home. It is easy to set up and is a great game to get your children learning new skills.

However we did receive the Baker Ross products for free which I have mentioned in this post. I have written all my own thoughts in this post.

Having Fun With Pipe Cleaners #31daysoffun

Baker Ross sent us a lovely box of goodies recently and inside were some pipe cleaners.I knew instantly I wanted to use them in our 31 days of fun and I set about coming up with ideas on how to use them. I thought about threading beads on to them and number counting however in the end I decided to let Maxwell play independently and allow him to practice his fine motor skills.

You will simply need:
A pack of pipe cleaners
Colander

How to:
I grabbed the pack of Baker Ross pipe cleaners and carefully split them up and put them in groups of colours. This allowed Maxwell to hear me tell him the colours of the cleaners and gave him the chance to repeat the colours to me.
Grab the colander and show your child how they can easily thread the pipe cleaners through the colanders holes.
Allow your child to play. There is no wrong or right way of doing this activity! Remember it is fun!

This activity allows children to get creative but also helps children understand their colours and it can help improve coordination. A great part of this activity is that the pipe cleaners can be reused over and over again and the activity is a cheap activity to do.

I was surprised at how much Maxwell enjoyed this activity and how long he spent doing it.It kept Maxwell entertained for over 30 mins and after he kept going back to it. I will be doing this activity with Maxwell weekly as I believe it will help him identify colours.

Sealife Stained Glass Effect Decorations #31daysoffun

Part of Maxwell's box of goodies from Baker Ross included a fun stained glass effect decoration kit as well as some glue. The set looked like a lot of fun and we were eager to use the kit. Due to Monday being wet and the grass being a little muddy outside we decided that we would do some fun indoor activities for our 11th day of activities.

The kit we were sent came with 6 decorations. The decorations were sea life shaped and came pre cut. All Maxwell had to do was simply pop out the pre cut parts of the decoration out and he was ready to cut the coloured cellophane sheets to create a pretty stained glass effect.

Maxwell carefully applied a small amount of glue with my help round the edging of the pre-cut hole of the decoration. With my help also Maxwell cut small amounts of cellophane and carefully stuck them down on the decoration. If there were any gaps, the decoration only needed a little glue added to the piece of cellophane and we carefully overlapped the cellophane to fill the hole.

We left the decoration to dry and after a few hours we added some ribbon to the decoration to hang it. We decided to hang the decoration in the conservatory where it was able to get a lot of light and create a beautiful effect.

Maxwell found that this was a fun activity. The sets only cost £3.95 and with 6 decorations in a set, your child can have hours of fun completing beautiful decorations. If you are looking to buy a set you are able to buy them here.

Mosaics #31daysoffun

Being part of the Baker Ross blogging network allows us to receive some brilliant crafts from time to time. Maxwell has recently been doing lots of crafts and today saw us complete a fantastic mosaic craft set that Baker Ross had kindly sent us. The set was easy to complete and with a little help from Mummy, Maxwell managed to create a brilliant heart picture which would be fab to give to family members.

The kit we were sent came with 5 different mosaics in, all were brightly coloured and looked fun to complete. Upon opening one of the kits we found that there were instructions, foam squares, a large square of foam which had square guidelines on and a large heart shape which would go in the middle of the square of foam to complete the mosaic.

I was impressed to see that the small squares which needed to be stuck to the large piece of foam all had sticky backs on. Maxwell needed a little help to remove the sticky pack protective cover however once I had helped him do this, he had no trouble placing the foam squares in the square guidelines.

The mosaics took no longer than 25 minutes for Maxwell to complete and he really enjoyed doing the task. Once completed the mosaics were really bright and it was clear to see Maxwell had carefully managed to put the mosaic together.

I think these sets are brilliant to give to family at Christmas to say that special thank you. The mosaics look bright and it is clear to see a child has put a lot of effort into making them which I think is lovely! We really enjoyed creating our mosaics and we are hoping to do some more in the next few weeks, ahead of Christmas. You are able to look at Baker Ross's mosaic range here.
