Yu! Healthy Snacks Review

Are you looking for a healthy tasty snack?
Something perfect for lunch boxes or a great snack between meals?

I am always looking for healthy snacks for me and Maxwell to enjoy. Recently we were contacted by Yu!. We were asked if we would like to try their range of products. Me and Maxwell jumped at the chance to give them a try.

Mummy Blog, Mummy To The Max, Parenting Blog,

The first thing I noticed when we received our bag of Yu! treats was the packaging. I thought it looked great. It had a eye catching design which would be suitable for all ages. The packaging is black and has a green frog on it. A really nice touch about the packaging is that the frogs feet are the same colour as the fruit content in the pack. The  blueberry flavoured Yu! snacks frog has blue coloured feet, pink for strawberry and red for cherry items.

Me and Maxwell had a great time trying the Yu Fruit treats. First off we tried the Yogurt-Coated Fruit Pieces. They are tasty fruit bites covered in a creamy yogurt coating, containing real fruit and real yogurt. We found them to be delicious and the ideal treat for Maxwell. They were a perfect snack to put in his changing bag. They were very sweet and extremely tasty. These would be perfect for children who are picky when eating fruit as they are covered in yoghurt so the fruit is hidden.
Yogurt-Coated Fruit Pieces are available in strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant, raisin and the new banana flavour. They are available to buy from Tesco and Sainsbury.

Mummy Blog, Mummy To The Max, Parenting Blog, Mummy Blog, Mummy To The Max, Parenting Blog,

We then went on to try the Jus Fruit Chews. They are delicious bite-sized pieces of dried fruit which look and taste just like a sweet. They remind me of a small jelly tot but tastier. The fruit chews are made using 100% real fruit pieces which I believe is great for children. The chews are also a part of your 5-a-day which is good for fussy little eaters who hate eating pieces of real fruit. The fruit chews are less than 90 calories a pack.
The Yu Jus Fruit Chews are available in 5 different flavours, cherry, blueberry, mango, raspberry, blackcurrant and strawberry. Jus Fruit Chews are available from Tesco and Sainsbury.

Finally we tried the Yu! Bars. They are made up of 40% fruit and are my favourite out of all the Yu! fruit treats. They are packed with plump, juicy fruits with cereal in a gorgeously healthy yogurt-coating. Not only are these great for snacking on, I also believe they would be great for a healthy breakfast on the go.

Overall I would rate the Yu! Fruit Snacks 5/5.

A Week Of Learning And New Experiences

Maxwell is climbing
He loves to shake

  1. Maxwell has learnt to climb the sofa.
  2. Maxwell has been very spoilt this week.
  3. Maxwell has learnt how to turn the TV on with the remote.
  4. Maxwell went to his 1st music class this year.
  5. Maxwell is trying to speak a lot more.
  6. Maxwell likes to pretend objects are the phone and speak into them.
This week has been a little worrying. Maxwell has learnt how to climb the sofa and it panics me. He used to be able to get up on the sofa if he carefully placed his bumbo seat next to it as it gave him some height however this week he can do it by himself with nothing helping him to get up. Once up he likes to jump around. He is banned from climbing until he learns how to sit nicely.

Maxwell has been treated this week to many things, from toys to clothes to his favourite food, we went a little bit mad. I always have a eye for a bargain and this week we went to Portsmouth where all the outlet stores are. Maxwell loved seeing the Radley dogs which he spotted outside the Radley store but I loved the bargains that I managed to find. I picked up a hoodie, a T-shirt and some lovely trousers for just £12 when it should have been £38! Maxwell also got this week a new fancy dress costume, a new Disney Car's bus, new cups and bibs and lots of little snacks which he loves.

For a while now Maxwell has learnt how to turn the TV on by pressing the buttons at the bottom. It is touch screen so it is very easy for him to turn on however this week he has learnt to use the remote to turn the TV on and off and change the channel! He is very clever.

Yesterday we had a lovely day out at the Kiddicare opening in Hedge End and Maxwell was treated to a lovely music session. He really enjoyed himself and had great fun charging around. He loved shaking his maracas. Thank you to Maraca Jacks for a lovely time!

Maxwell has been speaking a lot more. Although he is unable to actually speak words he loves to try and chatter away in his own language. This week Maxwell has been using objects. He puts them up to his ear and pretends to talk to people.

Aldi Nappy and Wet Wipes Review

Are you looking for a great brand of nappies and baby wipes?
Great price and good quality?

Aldi Mamia Baby Nappies

Since Maxwell was tiny we have always used disposable nappies. I have always been wary of using supermarket brands as I normally like to use the more talked about big brands such as Huggies and Pampers.
When Aldi asked Me and Maxwell if we would like to try their range of Mamia Ultra-Dry disposable nappies I was excited to see what they were like.

When the nappies arrived my first thought was that they seemed quite thin and had a different texture that felt a bit silky on the outside of the nappy, apart from that they looked good. The nappies had a cute animal motif design on which I really liked.

Over a period of a few days Maxwell tried the nappies, not only in the day but also at night time and we found the nappies to be very good.
I found the Aldi nappies to be very absorbent and found they fitted well. They coped well with Maxwell running, walking, playing, everything a toddler likes to get up to in the day.

In the past Maxwell has had accidents in the night with other brands which have ended up making him disturbed at night and also giving him a rash, however these nappies left Maxwell dry and let him have a good nights sleep. I was pleased to see they did not irritate his skin or even leave him with marks.

The nappies are priced well and really are a bargain. We were sent a pack of 44 Mamia Ultra-Dry 4+  which are priced at just £4.49.

Aldi Mamia Baby Wipes

Maxwell is always getting messy. He is a typical toddler that loves to explore. From chocolate around his face to dirty hands after his dinner we are always on the hunt for some baby wipes.
Not only are wipes useful for messy hands they are great for bottoms.

We were sent some wipes to try from Aldi and were very impressed. They are a great quality and they had the right degree of wetness. They were thick and did the job they needed to do.
When changing Maxwell's nappy I normally struggle to get wipes out but these were easy to get out of there packet and came out one by one instead of clumps.

I thought I would try the wipes on me to get a parents view. I used them to clean the make up off my face and again I found they were fantastic. They felt soft on my skin and left my skin feeling clean. In my eyes they are just as good as the bigger brands and are fantastic value for money.

We were sent 2 packs of wipes. One pack being fragrance free and the other being fragranced. I found the frangranced ones smelt very nice. They did not have a strong smell.
Mamia baby wipes are designed for baby's sensitive skin. They retail at 79p which is very cheap for such a great quality of wipe.

I have no negatives to report back about these baby wipes. I found that they were great.

Overall I would rate the Aldis Mamia range of nappies and wipes 5/5. I am no longer a brand snob and have realised that supermarket brands are just a good.

Bargain Hunting #6

This week I wanted to take a look to see is it cheaper to do a grocery shop online?

Every week for a year, I have always ordered my food shopping online and had it delivered.
I found when Maxwell was younger I was always tempted to buy things I did not need such as new clothes or new toys, however when I do my shopping online I get what I need and only that.
I am able to stick to my budget as I can see what is going in the basket. If the price is too much at the end I can easily remove the "treats" we do not need wheres in store I would not be able to do this very easily.

The negatives I find with shopping online is that I do have to pay for delivery and I am unable to use coupons on my online shop however my whole experience is easier and cheaper than when I go to the supermarket.
Every few weeks I end up going to the supermarket and buying products that I have coupons for. I do not make a special trip to go there.

I recently found a site which is very handy. You are able to compare prices between supermarkets online so you can really make sure you are getting the most for your money
We usually shop at Tesco so I would pop on to mysupermarket and start shopping. I compare the products in my basket as I go and if I find products that make my shop cheaper than at Tesco I can switch to another store and get my shopping from there instead.

Do you like to shop online or do you love shopping in store?

Organix Finger Food Review

Are you looking for a Organic Snack for the little ones?
With only real ingredients that are used.

Organix has launched two new baby finger foods. Organic Banana Rice Cakes and Vanilla Multi-grain  Hearts. They come in multi-packs which are ready, easy and handy for your little ones to enjoy. They make great snacks on the go or are great for little ones to eat in between meals.

Organix products come with the “No Junk Promise” which means only real ingredients are used (so no added sugar, salt, colours, or artificial additives)
Maxwell was recently sent some snacks to try, he has been eating more interdependently recently and loves to feed himself so I knew before we even received the finger foods he would enjoy them.

First we tried the Organic Banana Rice Cakes. The rice cakes come in quite big bags which means they are great to have at home for a small snack in the day, or to give after a meal. They are suitable for children who are 7 months and over and are designed to encourage babies to develop more complex self feeding skills.
Maxwell really enjoyed the Rice Cakes. When I tasted one they tasted sweet. The rice cakes also didn't crumble. We thought that the shape of them were perfect as he was able to pinch them with his fingers instead of grabbing them in his palm. Overall these were a huge hit.

Maxwell then went on to try the Vanilla Multigrain Hearts. The Hearts come in small bags ideal for taking out with you for a snack. They have been specifically designed to support babies as they start feeding themselves at 10 months. They are a tiny size, but are the right size for babies that are looking to develop their motor skills.
Maxwell liked the Multigrain Hearts. They tasted quite plain to me when I tried them, and Maxwell didn't seem to enjoy them as much as he had liked the rice cakes but he did eat some.

Overall I would rate the Organix Snacks 4.5/5.

A Week Of Learning And New Experiences

Maxwell has gone into hiding
He loves to moonwalk

  1. Maxwell has learnt to walk backwards.
  2. He loves to play with his toy cars and push them around.
  3. He hates having his hair washed
  4. He loves jumping on to soft surfaces
  5. He loves hiding under the rug in our lounge
  6. He has tried lots of new foods this week.
Since Maxwell was small he has always loved to dance. This week whilst dancing he has learnt to walk backwards. He spins around and goes into his "moonwalk". Sometimes he spins so much though he falls over. It is so cute.

Maxwell has been playing more and more independently recently and his favorite thing to do is play with puzzles or shape stacker's however this week he has shown a interest in playing with his toy cars. He likes to push them along, or push them to me or his Dad so we can push them back.  He loves playing.

Maxwell loves baths.  He loves splashing, playing with his toys and loves to eat the bubbles. He has always been confident however this week he has developed a hate of having his hair washed.  If I try and wash his hair, he will instantly throw my hands of his head and get in a huff. I have over come this by using a flannel to dampen his hair and get the shampoo out.

Maxwell loves to jump on to soft surfaces and gets the giggles when he does this. He loves to do it in his cot at night but in the day time he loves to do it on his bean bag, he straightens his body, and then throws himself onto the surface and pushes his head in the either his mattress or the beanbag.

Maxwell loves hiding, behind doors and the curtains but this week I found him hiding under the rug in the lounge. Where he is quite small, I couldn't see him at first. I panicked as I thought he was lost. I am sure he will continue to find places to hide since his new hiding place has been found!

Sakata Japanese Crackers Review

Are you looking for a snack that is healthy but simply delicious?
Great for all ages of the family?

Recently me and Maxwell were very excited to receive a lovely package. The contents inside the package were a selection of the new range of mouth watering Sakata crackers.
Me and Maxwell were both very eager to try them.
We were sent 3 packets of the new range. The Lightly Salted, Sizzling Barbecue and Roast Tomato and Balsamic Crackers. You are also able to buy the sour cream and cheese and the Seaweed and Soya Sauce.

We tried all 3 flavors over a period of a few days and we found that we both enjoyed the Lightly Salted and the Sizzling Barbecue flavors, however we were both not so keen on the Roast Tomato and Balsamic.
My personal favourite was the Sizzling Barbecue and I could have easily ate the whole packet. The taste was delicious. I liked how the crackers were crispy and light and how they would make a perfect snack.
When Maxwell tried the crackers I saw that they were easy for him to pick up and grip. Maxwell really enjoyed the lightly salted crackers and enjoyed these at lunch.

Each cracker is low in saturated fat, gluten free and made with no artificial flavors or colours. Also a key thing to note is that the crackers are only 8 calories or less each!

Sakata rice crackers are available in 100g packs from Sainsbury’s, Morrison’s, The Co-operative, Waitrose and Ocado (RRP £1.99). At just £1.99 I believe they are a bargain.

Overall I think these are a very tasty perfect little snacks to nibble on throughout the day. They also provide a great snack for little ones.
We loved the crackers and at only 8 calories or less per cracker you can't go wrong. They are delicious and simply melt in your mouth.

Overall I would rate these crackers 4.5/5.

Please visit www.sakata.uk.com for more products and information. You can also get more information about Sakata on Facebook and Twitter.

In With The New

I can not take the credit for this however. A lot of hard work has gone into this new look and I would like to say a huge thank you to Mama Owl (Julie) for taking the time to design the new look and create such a brilliant set of graphics for us.

Bargain Hunting #5

Do not get done over by crazy prices. Follow my simple tips.

Just a short post this week however some useful information that may help my readers.

The Royal Mail have now decided to introduce a new system where parcels are now priced on both size and weight – making them more expensive to post.

Parcels are now priced on both size and weight, and unless a parcel is smaller than:
Length 45cm Width 35cm Depth 8cm OR Length: 16cm and Width: 16cm and Depth: 16cm with max weight of 2KG ,it will count as a medium or large parcel.
The parcel you posted 2 weeks ago second class which cost £2.20 may cost you £5.20 now as that is the cheapest price for a medium parcel. In my eyes that is daylight robbery and I am here to help you cut these costs.
  • Get a template free of the Royal Mail Website -  Royal Mail allows you to order a free cardboard template so you can check whether your items will fit into the small-parcel category.
  • Minimise Packaging - I used to send a lot of my parcels/post in jiffy bags or boxes however I recently brought plastic bags on eBay. They are extremely cheap and very handy to have. They also minimise packaging which could make a difference in weather your parcel is classed small, medium or large.
  • Use couriers - Couriers beat these crazy prices that Royal Mail have put in place and sometimes using a courier can be more convenient that going to the post office.  Some couriers will charge £3.99 for a parcel that is 2kg and £4.99 for a parcel that is 10kg. The most competitive couriers I have found are myHermes or Collect+ but please shop about before you choose which courier to use. Always look at what insurance they offer as well.
  • You are able to purchase boxes which are the size that Royal Mail wish there "smaller parcels" to be. You can buy them from Royal Mail directly at £11.48 for 10 boxes however you can search the net and pick up a bargain like these boxes for just £15.05 for 100!
For those interested as to the reasons why the prices have increased, please refer to the EU's Postal Service Directives http://ec.europa.eu/internal_market/post/legislation/index_en.htm

A Week Of Learning And New Experiences

Maxwell is a domestic god
Maxwell is becoming more independent

  1. Maxwell enjoyed seeing his grandparents
  2. Maxwell is eating more independently
  3. Maxwell has learnt to hide his food at dinner time
  4. Maxwell has been walking outside on the pavement
  5. Maxwell has made a new friend which is a dog
  6. Maxwell is a domestic god
This week Maxwell spent some time with my parents. He loves my parents dearly and is always excited to see them. Since they have moved Maxwell rarely gets to spend time with them, however they looked after him one night this week whilst me and Ben went out for dinner and was treated to lots of goodies! They spoil him lots, which Maxwell loves.

Maxwell has recently been eating more independently. He doesn't like me feeding him with a spoon and enjoys eating finger food. His favorite meal is now fish fingers however I have been trying to introduce new foods to him most days. Maxwell also keeps hiding his food under his legs when he eats. He finds it funny but it gets very messy at times.

A few weeks ago I wrote that Maxwell was getting more confident with wearing his new shoes. This week he has gone a step further and is now walking from the house, to the car whilst holding mine or Ben's hand. Soon he will be running down the road.

Maxwell has never been introduced to many animals. He has a rabbit which he shares with A.Rachel which he loves however this week he has made a new friend.
Maxwell's new friend is called Bryn and he is a Scottish dog. Maxwell met him when we visited my Nan and Maxwell loved chasing round after him and trying to pat him.

Maxwell has turned into a domestic god. He has always been very helpful. He tidy's his toys away into his toy box when he is asked and  at dinner time, if he spills food onto the tray off his plate he always tidy's this up however this week Maxwell has gone a whole lot further.
Maxwell has learnt how to put the dirty clothes from the washing bin into the washing machine... he even manages to put the correct colours in so they do not mix! He is a very clever boy.

Je T’aime Gift Set From Find Me A Gift Review

Are you looking for that perfect gift.
Something to pamper the one you love?

I rarely get any time to myself, but when I do I love a nice hot bath with some bubbles to relax with. Recently I was sent some bath bombs by Find Me A Gift. I was in for a treat. I was sent The Bomb Cosmetics Je T’aime Gift Set.

The first thing I noticed was the packaging it came in. It was presented beautifully in a gift wrapped box. The box was decorated with funky heart prints. It looked like the perfect way to pamper myself but it would also be the perfect gift to someone to say ‘I love you’!

What do you get?

1 x Ruby Vegas Soap (100g)
1 x Summer of Love Bath Blaster (160g)
1 x Love Cloud Bath Creamer (30g)
1 x Bedazzled Bath Blaster (160g)
1 x Crazy Cupid Soap (100g)

I tried the bath bombs and soap out over a 5 day period and was surprised at the quality of them. They were great and I found there was nothing bad to report back about them.
My favourite was the Love cloud bath creamer. I loved how tiny it was (30g) and enjoyed watching it fizzle away in my bath.
The Summer of Love Bath Blaster, blasted me away. I loved the smell it gave off, strawberries and cream. This would be a perfect addition to the bath after a hot summers day.
Out of the soaps I really enjoyed using the Crazy Cupid Soap. I liked the cute heart design it had and I enjoyed the lavender smell it gave off.

The bath bombs did not leave my bath greasy or leave tiny bits at the bottom of my bath. Normally I find many other bombs do. Normally I either slip around after using other bombs or end up with lots of bits at the bottom of the bath but this was not the case.

All these bath time treats are handmade which I found gave them a added special touch.
These sensual soaps and bath bombs are made using carefully selected ingredients, natural butters and essential oils, including velvety Cocoa and Shea Butter, Lavender and Sweet Orange essential oils. The leave you feeling fresh and smelling beautiful.

Overall, I loved the products and found that they were also a fantastic price, at just £11.99 you can have hours of relaxation in the bath.

I would rate this product 5/5

Bean Bag Bazaar - BazZoo Animal Bean Bag Review

Are you looking for a bean bag for your child?
Safe, Educational and fun and easy to wipe clean?

Maxwelll is now 15 months old and for a while now we have been looking for something for him to sit on instead of the floor. We live in a small house and we were looking for something that would be easy to move from room to room, but also be comfortable, safe and easy to clean for Maxwell to sit on.

We were recently sent a fabulous bean bag from Bean Bag Bazaar. It is part of the BazZoo Animal Bean Bags collection which includes Lenny the Lion, Mickey the Monkey, Pinky the Pig, Charlie the Crocodile and other fantastic animals.
We received Lenny the Lion which retails for £44.99.  Delivery was very quick and I was immediately impressed and excited when it arrived.

When Maxwell first saw the bean bag, he immediately started pulling it around. He thought it was fun and kept jumping on it. He soon started to sit on it and he looked comfortable and happy.
The first thing as a parent I noticed was the vibrant yellow design and the printed lions face. The bean bag stood out and brightened up the room.

The bean bag is made out of hard wearing fabric and is also water resistant. This would make a fun addition to any garden in the summer as well as in winter,.
Maxwell managed to spill some juice on the bean bag and also dribbled some chocolate but after wiping it down with some hot soapy water, the marks were gone.

At the present moment the bean bag is being used in the lounge in the day time, but at night I take it in to Maxwell's room to sit on to read him a bedtime story. Although they are not designed so much for adults, I still find it very comfortable to sit on.

My favourite thing about this bean bag is the fact it will grow with Maxwell as he grows. The bean bag is suitable for children up to the age of 6 so it will get plenty of use. This justifies the price which makes it a complete bargain in my eyes.

Overall I would rate Bean Bag Bazaar 5/5

A Week Of Learning And New Experiences

Maxwell enjoyed Easter
He learnt why boxes are so much fun!

  1. Maxwell learnt why boxes are so fun to play in
  2. Maxwell enjoyed his second Easter
  3. Maxwell played with bubbles for the first time
  4. Maxwell painted his eggs for Easter
  5. Maxwell was poorly
  6. We had a PJ day
This week Maxwell has developed a interest in boxes. He enjoys tipping them over and playing in them, either hiding or using them as a tunnel. We often get stuff delivered so Maxwell can look forward to plenty more playing in the future.

This year, it was Maxwell's second Easter. Last year he was very small and we couldn't do that much. This year we changed that by decorating eggs and spoiling Maxwell just a little. We had a fun day and even went out to make the most of the little sunshine we had and got a ice cream.

We went round Auntie Rachel's this week and she had made a lovely toy box up for Maxwell. Inside she had put some bubbles and of course Maxwell had to investigate what they were. Auntie Rachel blew the bubbles around the room. At first Maxwell was a little suspicious of them but eventually got used to them and liked popping them.

For Easter, I really wanted to do a Easter egg hunt, however Maxwell is too young so I decided we would decorate eggs for Easter! Maxwell had lots of fun, especially with the felt tips and lots of feathers.

Maxwell was poorly this week with a bad tummy, we had a nice PJ day and Maxwell enjoyed watching films with Mummy and having lots of cuddles! He is better now which I am glad about.
