Maxwell's Bedroom Wishlist

Recently we have been giving the house a make over. We have spent a lot of time looking around at items to buy for our home. We have browsed shops and the internet for goodies that will fill our home. I wanted to create a warm, friendly environment that we all love and enjoy. In the next few weeks,  I plan to write several short posts to show you what we have been up to however I thought I would post a wishlist of thing's that we have left to buy for Maxwell's room.

Maxwell's Bedroom Wishlist

Soon we will be looking to transform Maxwell's toddler bed into a single bed, although finding a single bed frame is often easy, I do try and take extra care when it comes to buying a mattress. I often go for well known brands that I know have a good reputation. I would love to buy Max a Silentnight mattress as I believe Silentnight as a brand are a very reputable company. We currently have a Silentnight mattress and it allows us to have a fantastic night's sleep, I would hope that by buying Maxwell a Silentnight mattress, he would also be able to have a fantastic night's sleep.

For a while, I have been after a toy box seat cushion for Maxwell's room. At the present moment Maxwell's toy box houses all his fancy dress costumes however it would be a nice touch if he was able to sit on his toy box and read books or play with toys. Toy box seat cushions can be very expensive however I  have managed to find this bright, colourful, star pattern cushion for just £25 over at GLTC which is a bargain. This is something which I would love to be able to add to Maxwell's room over the next few weeks.

As a parent, I am aware of the dangers which can happen in the household. Since Maxwell was small I have been extra careful when it comes to buying furniture. I hate filling his room with furniture that is tall or  with furniture that can be a potential falling hazard. Due to this, instead of getting Maxwell a tall bookcase to house his books I have been looking at small sling bookcases. Sling bookcases are the perfect storage systems for young children. Most are bright and attractive and most sit and stand nicely on the floor. Although Maxwell will grow out of this item in a few years, I think it is the perfect storage item to have in Maxwell's room for the time being.

Recently I have been wanting to brighten Maxwell's bedroom walls up however I have not had the time, patience or money to decorate Maxwell's room. Recently I have been wanting to add wall art to Maxwell's bedroom. I have recently come across these bright, bold wall art canvases, which are perfect to add to Maxwell's bedroom.

I have been looking out for a nice bright cushion since I decided to finish off Maxwell's bedroom. I wanted the cushion to stand out from the crowd, match the theme I set for Maxwell's room, be toddler friendly and having a meaning. Recently I manged to find a cushion at Tesco which fits all these want's. It was priced well and I am hoping it would be something that makes Maxwell's room unique.

Imaginext Transforming Batcave Review

Maxwell is growing up, he is no longer the little boy who enjoys playing with sorting puzzles, rattles or pull along toys, he is now the nearly 4 year old little boy who is into everything and anything. Recently Maxwell has been into Lego and more recently he was lucky enough to see the Lego Movie. Thank's to the Lego Movie, Maxwell was introduced to characters such as Batman and since then, he has been a Batman fan.

Imaginext Transforming Batcave

Maxwell was recently sent an Imaginext DC Super Friends Transforming Batcave Play Set to try out from his new friend's over at Fisher Price. Maxwell was super excited to try his new toy out, especially when one morning he saw the toy he was expecting to arrive on a childrens TV advert. I knew as soon as Maxwell got his new toy, it would be love at first sight and I was not wrong. Since Maxwell has had his new Batcave Play Set, he has not put the toy down.

When the Batcave set arrived, I noted it came in a large box and the box itself was nearly as tall as Maxwell. It was an exciting time for Maxwell, Maxwell could not wait to get his hands on his new toy. When the toy arrived I questioned, what was there not to love about his new toy? It was large, bright, attractive and looked like a whole load of fun.

Imaginext Transforming Batcave

The Batcave was ready to go straight out of the box which was a massive relief. I often can get frustrated with building toys and Maxwell can get even more frustrated when he is sat waiting around for me to build things that he wants to get his hands on straight away. The Batcave was super easy to set up and I felt that this toy was pretty self explanatory to use. You did not need instructions for it to be set up and once it was set up, it stood strong and tall in our lounge. A nice touch that I felt Fisher Price had included in this toy was the fact that it included batteries, this touch meant I did not have to dash to the shops in order for Maxwell to get the full fun factor out of this toy straight away.

The Imaginext DC Super Friends Transforming Batcave is an interactive play set with lights, flying launchers, a moving elevator and bat wings that open. There were a half a dozen pieces to add to the toy to make playing with it even more fun but the toy also came with 2 figures - Batman and a Joker. Maxwell adores these 2 figures and we have found that Maxwell uses his imagination well when trying to create a fun story for Batman and the big baddie Joker to go on a adventure with.

When you and your child arrive at Gotham City you will be greeted with Batcave headquarters. To make a real adventure, you need to turn a Power Pad to transform the Batcave– the platforms, Batcomputer and Batwings open and the eyes light up! Whilst on your magical adventure you are able to chuck Joker into jail, fly up in your elevator and load a projectile launcher to hit the big baddies with.

Imaginext Transforming Batcave

Maxwell adores this toy and it really is a toy that would be perfect for any little boy or girls Christmas or Birthday present. The toy is made well and it has been finished off well. It has been made with little hands but big imaginations in mind. There are no sharp edges, the accessories can be kept together easily (we use a little bowl) and the toy Batcave fits neatly together and stores well.

Maxwell has had this toy for a few weeks now and it is not something that he seems to be getting bored of. It is a toy that will be played with over and over again, can be used for lots of different scenarios and it suitable for children from 3 years old to around 8 years old.

We are looking forward to adding to this set and finding more secret compartments to this set that we already have - this set constantly gives and we are finding new things about this toy 2 weeks on from opening it and starting to play with it. Maxwell has already added a few additional items to his Christmas list which relate to the Imaginext brand. The Imaginext DC Super Friends Transforming Batcave retails at £59.99 at Smyths which I think is great value for money due to the quality of this toy.

*We received an Imaginext Transforming Batcave for the purpose of this review.  All thoughts and opinions are of our own.

-------------------------------------------------------

I am a massive fan of Rugby. Having watched it whilst growing up and recently getting the chance to meet an England Rugby star, I have many favourite moments when it comes to watching the Rugby World Cup. The best moment for me was from 2003 when Jonny Wilkinson dropped the goal that put the score at 20-17 and won England the 2003 World Cup.

I remember watching the 2003 match. I was young however old enough to remember the match well and old enough to know why and who I wanted to win the cup. I had butterflies in my tummy, I felt a lot of excitement and happiness however I felt nervous, nervous for the country as these England players had so many people's hopes in their hands. The pressure on these star players was immense however the players worked hard throughout the match and stood united.

I enjoyed watching the match but felt upset that we had come so far and we did not look like we were going to win. The England team had worked hard. 6 minutes into the match Australia were ahead however by 38 minutes England were ahead. There were so many twists and turns to the match and by the end we looked like we would loose. We were given a last minute chance that managed to see England through. There were only 26 seconds left on the clock and the moment came that we, England won the Rugby World  Cup! It was fantastic to see Jonny Wilkinson use his weaker right foot and bring home the Rugby World Cup home to England. It was a real nail biting match however England managed to reap rewards for their hard work.

It was a fantastic moment to watch and something that many rugby fans will always remember. It is something that England have not done again and due to this it is a record breaking match that will be part of England's history forever. This year could be our year and it would be fantastic to experience an exciting moment like 2003's match if I won the Rugby World Cup tickets.

A Week Of Learning And New Experiences

  1. Maxwell has settled in well at his old preschool
  2. Maxwell had a fantastic first day at his new preschool
  3. Maxwell has been getting on well with his speech
  4. Maxwell is nearly there with toilet training
  5. Maxwell has been trying lots of new foods recently.
With a new term starting, Maxwell managed to settle well into his old preschool. I was a little worried at first due to the fact that a lot of friends Maxwell had, had left to go to big school however it is clear to see it has not overly worried Maxwell and he has started interacting with other children that he may not have last year. He has a best friend at preschool and it is fantastic to see Maxwell run over to him every day that they attend together and watch them play.

Maxwell started his new preschool with a little bit of hassle on Tuesday however once he has arrived at preschool and came home it was clear to see he had a brilliant first day and he can not wait to go back next week. He came home with a note of praise and seeing as it was Maxwell's first day, we were super proud. We adore Maxwell's new preschool and we know it is the right environment and right place for him to attend.

Maxwell's speech is getting better and better. Lots of people have commented on how much his speech is improving which is brilliant to know and hear. Maxwell can now say words such as disgusting and delicious which are quite long words however Maxwell still struggles to put sentences together. With the help of Maxwell's new preschool, we are looking forward to see Maxwell's speech develop.

Over the 6 weeks holiday, we have nearly managed to potty train Maxwell. Maxwell now sits on the toilet and does this out and about however he still has accidents and prefers to wear pull ups than pants for a long period of time. We think that Maxwell will be there with his potty training adventure soon.

Maxwell used to hate foods that was saucy and he would hate eating meat. Vegetables, fruit and salad were fine. Recently Maxwell has been trying a range of new foods and now adores eating baked beans and enjoys a few new meats which he used to hate. We will continue to encourage him to eat a different range of foods.

Back To School Party With Asda

Maxwell started preschool yesterday, he had a wonderful day and it was filled with lots of proud moments. Although it was not Maxwell's first time at preschool, it was his first time at his new big preschool and it was a huge achievement that he went and enjoyed himself. His day at preschool was a little bittersweet as he commented on the fact his "old friends" were not there to play with however he did mention he had made new friends to play with and he commented on the fact he was excited to see them again.

Over the summer holidays, Maxwell saw a few of his friends that he made at his old preschool and enjoyed a few play dates with them. Due to the fact that some of Maxwell's friends were leaving preschool and moving on,Maxwell and I decided to host a back to school party. We decided that we would have a fun fancy dress party and have lots of nibbles to eat. Thank's to Asda we were sent some fun fancy dress costumes for the children to wear to the party and we were also able to get some delicious food thanks to Asda for us all to snack on.

Asda have a wide range of costumes for children. From animal costumes to superhero costumes, ballet costumes to scary dragon costumes, there is something that will suit every child. Each costume that Asda sell is good quality, sized accordingly and great value for money. Due to the large selection of costumes that Asda offer, we did have a little trouble choosing the costumes for the party however after a lot of thought and taking on board what the children wanted to wear to the party, we choose a few costumes from Asda and awaited delivery of them.

The delivery of the costumes was fast and easy. The costumes were packed well and were left with a neighbor who kindly took them in for us due to us being out when the delivery arrived. The costumes were packed neatly and inside the packaging we were sent a order returns letter incase we had a problem with one of the costumes. We had no issues with the costumes however it was nice to see that Asda offer a easy returns process if it is needed.

Maxwell decided to dress up as Olaf from Frozen for the party. The film is one of his favorites and he is a big fan of Olaf. The costume was white, fluffy, a good fit on Maxwell and was priced well at just £10. The costume had some great detail added to it and I felt Maxwell looked the part in his costume.  The costume fitted Maxwell like a onsie, included a fun snowman hood with a large orange nose and also included a large rounded tummy. I felt Maxwell stood out from the crowd in his costume.

Max also had a few friends attend the party. One of our favourite costumes that Asda sent was worn by Max from Max and Mummy. Max wore a Captain America Costume. The costume had fantastic detail on it and again the costume was priced well at £12.50. The costume came with a body suit which again fitted like a onsie, a hat that made sure Max fitted well into his captain America theme  and the costume also came with a shield which the boys loved playing with at the party. The BFG, a mouse, a Transformer and Buzz from Toy Story also attended the party.

At the party, we played a few fun games and also ate lots of delicious food. I decided to serve up traditional party food which went down well with not only the children but also the adults. I decided that I wanted the table to look bright and I also wanted to stick with a school theme. Due to this I decided to get Hungry Caterpillar accessories due to it being Maxwell's favourite book. I stuck with plain accessories to accompany the Hungry Caterpillar party table theme as I wanted to focus mainly on the Hungry Caterpillar theme and not a busy mismatched theme.

We had a great time at the party, overall the party was a great success. If you are on the lookout for fancy dress costumes for your children which can be purchased on a budget. Asda's extensive range is for you. The costumes are well made and made to withhold a little rough and tumble. The design on the costumes is ace and the accessories which match the costumes have been carefully made and well thought about. Asda offer arrange of costumes for boys and girls of all ages that will ensure that they stick out from the crowd at any fancy dress party.

*We received a selection of costumes and a voucher for party food, in return for this post.  All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Dear Maxwell, On The First Day Of Your New Preschool.....

Over the past few month's life has seemed to have fast forward, just a few months ago it seems like it was Easter and now we are only a few short months away from celebrating Christmas. So many things have happened, so many things have changed but over this time my love has continued to grow for you. Today, the day before you start your new preschool I am beaming with pride.

Tomorrow you start school, not "big" school where I miss seeing your face for 6 and a bit hours a day but a preschool that make me feel like you are growing up that little bit more and  I am needing to let you go that little bit more. This is not a bad thing for either of us but it has hard to let you go. I have protected your, looked after you, fought for you and done everything in my power to ensure you had the best for the past 3 years and although you are growing up, I will continue to ensure you will have the best for years to come.

Tomorrow you toddle off to school. You will be going into the unknown and that scares me a little. I have explained over and over what is going to happen but it frightens me that you are not ready, frightens me that you may not settle and it frightens me that you may think Mummy and Daddy have abandoned you due to the fact we can no longer take you to your new preschool and you have to get on a bus with people that you do not know, but it will be okay.

Over time and even after your first trip tomorrow, I know everything will be fine. You always seem to settle so well and you are so excited for tomorrow, I hope you understand what is coming. I do not want tears tomorrow but I want you to be happy. I want you to get on the school bus, wave to me and sing song's all the way to preschool. I want you to learn and make friends and try your best at everything that is put forward to you. I want you to have the best day ever and come home and tell me what you have got up, what you played with, what you have read, what you have sung and tell me about all the friends you have made.

Although I am nervous about you going to your new school, I know that it will only help you develop into the amazing little boy you already are and are becoming. You have already learnt so many things in the last few months and all you need is this final push to get you to where you need to be with your speech and confidence. I can not wait to see how you are this time next year when you are starting big school. I think we will have so much to be thankful for towards your new school.

The next year will be hard work. We will have ups and downs, more visits to pediatricians, more visits from people we do not know that are there to help you, a few more worries and homework to complete but together we will do everything that need's to be done so that you can and will achieve your best. We will do this with smiles on our faces and we will start and finish with a positive attitude.

Tomorrow as I wave you goodbye on the bus I will feel that little bit of sadness. I hope I do not cry - tears will not fall because I am sad but because I am happy and proud. I know this is your first step into the big world, that big step without me or your daddy holding your hand. You seem so little to be making this step but I know this will be the making of you. Your new school is the best place for you to attend and whilst I am scared deep down, I am so excited.

Please show everyone tomorrow that little boy we know and love. Please do not be scared. Please grow in confidence and please show everyone the bright, happy, clever boy that you are.

With love on your first day at your new preschool,

Mummy

Valuelights Dinosaur Lamp

Valuelights are an online lighting specialist who sell a range of products such as lights, lamps and bulbs. Valuelights offer different ranges of products that are suitable to use around the home - inside and outside. From bathroom lights to outdoor lighting to novelty lighting for the bedroom, Valuelights have a number of products to suit every budget. Recently Maxwell was sent an amazing Dinosaur lamp to review.

Maxwell hates the dark. Ever night we allow Maxwell to have a nightlight on in his room however recently we have been getting a little annoyed with the colour changing light that features on his current night light. The Dinosaur lamp from Valuelights has been a welcome addition to our home.

When the Dinosaur lamp arrived, I thought that it may be pre made and ready to go use out of the box however I did have to assemble it. After following the easy to read instructions that the lamp came with, I found it a little tricky to assemble the lamp in some areas such as under the dinosaur legs due to the plastic material being a little tight. This said the whole process of removing it from the box, to it being a full functioning dinosaur lamp only took me around 5 minutes which is quite impressive.

As soon as the lamp was assembled, we shared the lamp with Maxwell. As soon as he laid eyes on the Dinosaur lamp, he adored it. He is a massive dinosaur fan and thanks to the fantastic build, look and shape of the lamp, he was able to identify that the lamp was a dinosaur straight away. He commented on the dinosaurs head as well as the dinosaurs spiky feet and loved the dinosaurs big arched back.

Maxwell has been using the light for around 2 weeks now and it has been a massive success. Since we have had the light, it has had a home in Maxwell's room. The light gives off a warm glow which settles Maxwell in bed at night. It is a eye catching piece.

The lamp is light and is easy to clean thank's to the plastic material it is made of. Although little toddler hands have handed the lamp daily along with our hands, the light has stayed the same shape and is a sturdy feature in Maxwell's room. Maxwell says goodnight to his dinosaur every night and loves to read bedtime stories with him.

To use the Dinosaur lamp all you need to do is simply add 3 AAA batteries and flick a small button which can be located underneath the dinosaur's belly. I love the fact that the lamp is battery operated instead of mains operated as it means that we can move the lamp around Maxwell's room without having to worry if there is a plug socket near. It also means we are able to take it away with us if we decide to stay away from our home for the night.

This lamp is a unique piece and would make a fantastic feature for any child's room. This lamp can be purchased at Valuelights for £24.99 which I think is a reasonable price for something that is unique, fun for children and of great quality.

*We received the dinosaur lamp for the purpose of this review. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

Thrifty Three Favs

It's that time of the month where I write down my favourite "Thrifty Three Favs". August was a fantastic month for me. It saw me get a few bargains but it also saw me win a few fabulous thing's which as a family we adore. I also got a few complementary thing's which were a nice gesture. Without further a do, this is my 3 favs of last month!

-------------------------------------------------------

Favorite bargain: Last month saw me get some fantastic bargains but the best bargains  I felt I got were from Hawkins Bazaar. For a while now I have been looking to redo Maxwell's room. I wanted to change it from Disney Car's to a rainbow, retro room. After looking around on Google, I found some fantastic pieces on Hawkins Bazaar which I knew would look fantastic in Maxwell's room and they were priced in the sale cheaply. I managed to purchase Maxwell some cool Clown trinkets which were priced at just 99p and I found an amazing retro bird pecker which was priced at just £1.50. I love all thing's wooden and bright and these look fantastic on Maxwell's bedroom table.

Favorite freebie: Freebies were lacking a little last month but I did have a lovely win that Maxwell simply adored. Last month over on Instagram I won a lovely cushion - a London bus one. Maxwell is obsessed with London buses so it was a lovely gift to receive. Along with my win, Maxwell was also sent a London tray which was also a really kind gesture. I love it when company's go that little extra mile and can be ever so thoughtful.

Favorite gift: Last month, I complained to a few people about rubbish service. If the service is not great, I find honesty is the best key. If you do not voice your concerns about bad service then nothing will be done and other customers will end up having equally poor service. Last month, Ben and I went on a date night and treated ourselves to a meal. The meal was okay however our started was lacking any preparation and what we ordered did not look what we ordered on the menu. The floor of the restaurant was also dirty and I had a chip in my glass which was not great. I took to social media and let the brand know about the problem, a few weeks after I received a £30 gift card in the post to go back and have a meal. It was a nice gift and it was great to see that the company were trying to make amends.
