MUMMY TO THE MAX

Many of my readers know how I love to spot a bargain so I thought it was about time that I dedicated some sort of blog post to my bargain finding. This week's bargain finds are all from Tesco. Tesco decided to close it's doors to our Southampton Home Store last weekend and I visited 2 days before it closed. I can safely say, I was there at the right time to pick up a lot of bargains.

The bargains which I purchased were not just for me, they were for family and friends and some of the items which  I managed to purchase shall make a perfect stocking filler this Christmas for people around me. Below are a few items which I managed to get my hands on:

Black floppy hat - This was my favourite bargain of all and this can still be purchased on the Tesco website. It is priced at £14 however I managed to get this for just 50p which is a huge saving. I plan to wear this in the summer with a few nice maxi dresses.



Christmas Socks - I purchased around 5 lots of these. They were reduced to 36p each and I thought they would make a lovely stocking filler at Christmas for people that I make Christmas stocking up for. The socks came in there own unique material bag. They were around £3 before they were reduced so I managed to get all 5 pairs for under the value of 1 pair's original sale price.

Mr Tumble  Books - The books reportedly were over £15 before a sale price however I do not think this is the true value as I often buy books below what they have printed on them, either way  I managed to get these books for just £1.25. I will be putting these away for Maxwell for his Birthday.


Gloves -  I bought 2 pairs of gloves which I needed as I had managed to loose my last pair. Before they were put in the sale they were £2.50 each however I picked them up for just 13p a pair! They will not be used until later on in the year when the cold weather sets in again however they will be used and will save me money as I will not have to buy any gloves at fill price.

Jake Fisher Price ship - Maxwell has wanted this ship since as long as I could remember however the price tag put me off buying it for him. The pirate ship was priced at £40 which I deem to be very expensive for one toy so I was waiting for the ship to go down in price. Over recent months I have seen it for around £30 but I thought I would hold out a little longer to purchase it. I made the right choice in holding out for it as I managed to pick up the pirate ship for just £10! I am really pleased with this find and I shall be putting it away for Max's birthday.

As you can see I managed to get lots of bargains, I actually managed to get 2 bags of bits along with the pirate ship for just under £20 which I think is amazing. These type of bargains can not always be found but when I know shops are shutting down in our local town, I always visit. I often find that shops start heavily reducing a few days before they are due to shut, if you visit then you get the best pick of the bargains wheres if you leave it to the last day you will get the tat no one wants.

For Christmas 2014 I hated our Christmas tree however I knew we were lucky to have one and instead of paying over the odds for a new Christmas tree before Christmas I decided to make do with our old one. The old one was on its last legs and was falling apart, when it was time to take the tree down we were greeted with half the tree on the floor. I knew I needed to spot one in the sales for Christmas 2015 ASAP.

Since the 1st of January I have been eagerly searching on websites for a bargain. I missed most of the bargain Christmas trees on Argos however today whilst looking on Tesco I found enough bargains to make Christmas 2015 complete and it cost me under £10.

For just under £10 I managed to buy:

• Silver Bead Chain
• 25 Mini Baubles 
• 100 Multi-Function Microlights Coloured
• Silver Christmas Topper
• Evergreen Fir 6ft Christmas Tree
• Christmas Wrapping Paper

Maxwell has just turned 18 months and has been needing some new summer clothes which are suitable for day to day wear. I always think clothing says a lot about a persons personality and always makes a impression when you meet people. I like Maxwell to dress smart.

Maxwell recently went to A. Rachel's house whilst I was away at Britmums, so he needed some day outfits and nightwear that would make him look his best whilst visiting. I wanted to buy him something which would be of good quality however I did not want to spend much.

I came across Tesco's F&F range for children and I was impressed with the ranges of clothing they did for boys. There is a lot to choose from and all the clothing varied in ranges of prices which made it affordable for everyone.

I picked 2 outfits and a set of Pj's for Maxwell and it came to the bargain price of £30.


The first outfit I chose was the Blue F&F Roll-Up Lightweight Trousers teamed with a F&F plain brown T shirt. When Maxwell had this outfit on, he looked really summery. The trousers are lightweight and would be great for Maxwell to wear around the house or whilst playing outside. The trousers can be worn full length or rolled-up with button fastening tabs and they are adjustable at the waist. Maxwell looked very grown up in this outfit.


I then went on to team the F&F Slim Leg Chinos with a F&F Blue T Shirt. The chinos have turn-up cuffs and are adjustable, which is perfect as they are a little too long for Maxwell at the moment. The chinos also feature an elasticated waistband which gives them the perfect fit. This outfit makes Maxwell look smart and is perfect for when he's out and about.

Bedtime is a important time for Maxwell. I like to think he is always comfortable and I worry in the summer he may overheat however I managed to purchase a 2 pack of PJ's which featured shorts and t shirt which keeps him cool at night. The PJ'S feature a friendly robot designs and colourful stripes. I love Maxwell in bright colours so these are a bedtime essential.


I have so far managed to wash all the clothes and I can say that they wash up well. I always worry that the colour of the trousers will fade however I can say so far they have stayed the correct colour. I also worry that the PJs may misshape when washed but again I was proved wrong and they are still in their original shape.

Yesterday was a great day for the Mummy To The Max household. I managed to save over £50 simply by using coupons and getting great deals on reduced items.

First off I popped to Boots to get myself some toiletries to take to London with me for Britmums. I went into the shop and went to the Kiosk to get the best deals off my Advantage Card.
There were some great deals including bronzer makeup down to £2.50 instead of its £5.50 price tag and 10% off deodorants/body sprays.
I then headed to the reduced section and was amazed at what I saw. Shampoo down form a £1 to 50p and dry hair shampoo from £2.50 to £1. I picked up 2 of each and headed to the checkout along with some body spray and my bronzer.
I paid for my items and once I had left the shop I found that I had been charged 50p for the dry shampoo instead of £1 and they had taken 20% off the body spray instead of the original 10%. I managed to save over £10 on my Boots shop and I also got advantage points as well as a voucher for half price sunglasses.

We then headed to Tesco, I had no plans of what to buy but my purse was full of coupons so I went around the shop working out what I could buy with my coupons and getting some shopping to feed us for the week minus fruit,salad and veg which I buy from our local market.
I had £4 Walkers coupons, £3 Fox Biscuit coupons and £5 Pampers coupons to use... I also had a lot of £1 coupons and some coupons to use from my Bzzagent trials to use.
Whilst in Tesco I spotted that they had a fab deal on Huggies Baby Wipes - 9 packs for a small £6.28 which is a great saving as I normally only see the wipes on offer at £1 a pack. Before I left my house I also spotted that Tesco were selling there jumbo boxes of Pampers nappies off at £5 so I asked for them to look out the back and to my surprise they had a box - 68 nappies for £5!!

When I went to the checkout I was unsure how much my shopping would cost as I had walked around the shop working out the price in my head and had calculated I would need to spend around £13 of my own money once I had used vouchers.

My shopping came to £49 and I got it for £11.79 which is a amazing saving! I got paid to take the Pampers nappies away as I had a £5 voucher from P&G and also a £1 voucher when you buy pampers nappies in Tesco. I also got paid to take some of the cheese's away as the voucher was more expensive than some of the products. I had a £4 off voucher for a £40 spend as well.

I had a great day of shopping and managed huge savings.
