Zoo Matching Pairs & Free Download

Zoo Matching Pairs & Free Download
Today I present to you Matching Pairs. This task is simple to follow however the sheet also doubles up as a colouring sheet. When Maxwell completes this sheet, I ask him to copy the colouring of the pictures on the right hand side. I feel this added task keeps him occupied for that little longer. To take part in this activity all you and your child need to do is match up the animal pairs.

This is one of my favourite activities that I have managed to create for my blog. The whole concept of this activity is fun. All you simply need to do is print out the work sheet that goes with this activity and dice and fix it together and you are ready to go.

Christmas At Longdown Dairy Farm

On my Birthday this year, we thought it would be nice to take Maxwell somewhere that little bit magical. For weeks and weeks I had been planning on a nice trip and finally I came up with the idea of taking him to our local farm to meet Father Christmas.

The local farm is not that far away from us. It is around a 10 minute drive and is situated in Ashurst which is in the New Forest. The farm is called Longdown Dairy Farm. I had heard nothing but good reviews from other parents so I was excited to go and see what all the fuss was about.

Upon arrival we parked in a large car-park. The car-park was large and allowed many visitors to park in it. There were no set bays which enabled us plenty of space for Maxwell to get in and out of the car which I find is always important. From the car park the farm is a short walk across the road.

Once arriving at the farm we were shown into a marquee where activities were set out for children to have fun with. There were a long row of benches for people to sit down on and small table which let people buy refreshments. Maxwell loved the activities which were set out for him. One being a huge wooden standing cow with wooden boards that he lifted up and was able to see pictures of animals as well as facts about the farm.

After Maxwell had enjoyed the activities we were shown into the Christmas barn. First of all we were able to sit down and enjoy holding chicks. Unfortunately  Maxwell was not keen on them and we ended up putting the chick back however it was a wonderful experience and perhaps when Maxwell is a little older he will enjoy chicks more.

We then had the opportunity to meet a few other animals which included sheep, a donkey, goats and a turkey. Maxwell adored the donkey and spent a while touching him and stroking him. Maxwell was sad to leave the animals as he was called to go into Santa's Grotto by a giant elf.

Once in the Grotto we were able to sit next to Santa and we were given a small gift by the elf. Santa tried to talk to Maxwell however Maxwell seemed a little scared by him and was reduced to tears meaning we eventually had to leave Santa in his grotto however Maxwell was impressed with his present which was a lovely board book which will help him learn colours as he grows.

Overall we had a lovely time at the farm. There were a lot of things to see and do for children including colouring and dressing up and I would definitely reccomend it to families. We paid around £10 to get in which included 3 adults and 1 child which I found was quite reasonable.

I am hoping to take Maxwell again next year, hopefully he will no longer be scared of Santa!

Sunset Party in the Park at Marwell Wildlife Park

Mummy Blog, Mummy To The Max, Parenting Blog,

Marwell Zoo is in the heart of the beautiful Hampshire countryside, just eight miles from Winchester, five from Eastleigh and twelve from Southampton. Last week Maxwell and I were invited to visit and attend the Sunset Party in the Park.
The Sunset party is a opportunity to visit the zoo after hours and see the animals at sunset, meet the keepers who care for them and enjoy special talks.

Upon arrival we were greeted by Pom Bear who was giving new zoo snacks away to the visitors. It was a great atmosphere and everyone seemed to be happy and excited to be there. We were given a map of the park which included all the activities for the night. I found this to be very helpful.
There was a long que which went down quickly and we were soon in the park.

Once in the park we saw The Big Noise Samba Band. The band were very loud but made the park come to life. It was great to see such talented people. Maxwell did not like the noise so much as it was quite loud for his ears but I really enjoyed watching along with many other visitors.

Mummy Blog, Mummy To The Max, Parenting Blog,

We set off to look around the zoo. Maxwell and I were excited to see the animals and to see the other activities which were going on throughout the night. Maxwell and I enjoyed seeing the animals on the night however we did find some of them to be asleep as we neared the end of our walk around the zoo. We adored the meerkats and the hippos but we were not so keen on the dark bat house which was a little smelly. We found that the talks about the animals were very factual and we learnt many new things.

Mummy Blog, Mummy To The Max, Parenting Blog,

We found that there were plenty of places to sit down and enjoy a family picnic but we also found that there were plenty of cafes around the zoo to buy some food from.
There were some park areas where there were slides and swings for the children to enjoy as well as clean toilets and baby changing areas which is always something I notice when visiting places.
There was a bouncy castle for the children to enjoy on the night as well as fantastic fire performers and some large pigeons who walked around the park. We sadly missed the fire performers as we did not know where they were but we did hear many people talk about the performance and say it was great.

There is plenty of parking at Marwell and the car park is situated just a small walk away from the entrance. There is also a bus at Marwell for people to get to and from Eastleigh train station. The bus departs from Eastleigh every half and hour. The people from Marwell have really thought about everyone.

There is still time for you to buy tickets to visit the Sunset Party in the Park on 21st of June and I would highly recommend going.

Overall the night was very enjoyable and I would recommended anyone of any age to go. It is fun for all the family and you can take away a lot from the zoo.

Mummy Blog, Mummy To The Max, Parenting Blog,

Thank you Marwell for giving us such a great night out!

I did not receive any financial reward for writing this review.
However we did recieve free entry into the zoo. Everything written in this post is my own, honest opinion.
