Following on from the kids JCB Twitter Party which we hosted last week, I thought it would be a fantastic idea to put together a little idea list for parents out there that have a JCB loving child. With a little help from Max, we have added our 6 favourite JCB gift ideas.

5 Family Christmas Tradition Ideas
Thursday, 19 November 2015
This year is the first year I think Maxwell truly understands Christmas. Although he has still not grasped the meaning of Christmas truly and what it really stands for, he is well aware of Christmas songs, presents, family, trees, decorations and Santa. This year I wanted to make our Christmas a little different. I wanted to try 5 new family traditions that we can continue to do every Christmas.
- This year I have started to create a box of Christmas memories. Inside the box I aim to put the following: Maxwell's Christmas list, a picture of him at Christmas, a picture of him with Santa, any letters which I may write to him at Christmas time and a Christmas day diary so when Maxwell is older we can look back at our Christmas's and have fond memories of them. I have a box of memories from 2000 and the box is fantastic. It has so many memories which I held 15 years ago which are beautiful to look back at now. It is amazing to see how the world has changed since then.
- This year, I wanted to allow Maxwell to pick a decoration for our Christmas tree and continue this for the next 12-16 years. To me Christmas is all about family and I adore looking at a Christmas tree that is full of love and happiness rather than the latest fashion trend. Allowing Maxwell to pick a decoration for our tree gives our tree a special meaning. I can not wait to see what he picks this year. It will be interesting to see what decorations he picks year to year.
- Although I say Christmas is about family, I also think Christmas is for giving to others. This year I wanted to ensure others had a fantastic Christmas which meant I decided that Maxwell and I would do 5 nice things for other people. This year our "giving" will see us give thing's to others such as our friends over at Post Pals, see us donate a few pounds to charities which we would like to help and see us giving our old things that we do not need to people less fortunate than ourselves.
- Me and Maxwell adore gingerbread and as a new tradition, I would love to ensure we decorate a gingerbread man or gingerbread house every Christmas eve. Christmas eve is always a special day for Maxwell and I as it normally means Ben is working so we often spend the day doing lots of activities together. I know this is something which Maxwell will love to do and is something that we can continue to do in the future. You are never to old to decoate gingerbread!
- I am obsessed with the 12 days of Christmas. Starting this year, I would love to write 12 activities down that me and Maxwell along with Ben and our families can enjoy for 12 days. I think some fun ideas would include, going to see the Christmas lights, making reindeer food, watching a Christmas film, going to the pantomime and most importantly doing something extra special on the 12th day as that day is Maxwell's Birthday!

For some of you, you may have broken up for the summer holidays. This week I thought I would take a look at a few summer essentials that you may need whilst holidaying away this year.
I would be lost without a little First Aid Kit in my bag at all times. I always find it is handy to have one especially with a clumsy toddler who likes to often fall over and split his legs open. I think this is a real bargain and it is pocket size meaning it is easy to carry around.
When ever I go to a different country, I always take travel adapters. I think they are a necessary bit of kit to carry and can be a life saver whilst away and you need to charge your phone, plug your hair straighteners in or even charge kids toys up.
When going away I often take a pair of these in my bag. They have helped me out in the past and I know they have helped my family in the past whilst travelling.
I find that it is always essential to keep all of my documents together when travelling. This little wallet would be perfect to keep all documents and important information together. I think it is a great price and a great size to tuck away in a bag.
There is nothing worse than being on holiday and having a germ ridden toothbrush that has been lost in a bag. I think these travel toothbrushes are the perfect size to keep in a bag. The cases are perfect to protect the toothbrushes and keep them germ free.

Mothers Day Gift Idea - Truprint
Saturday, 28 February 2015
On Sunday the 15th of March it is Mothers Day. It is a day that I love to celebrate not only with Maxwell but also with my mum. Over the years I have gifted my mum some presents that she has really enjoyed however this year I was looking for something which I could gift her that was unique, thoughtful and something which she would love.
This year I wanted to gift my Mum something personal and I could not think of anything better than gifting her items from Truprint. Truprint is a online shop which lets you create unique gifts to others by using personal photos. Truprint has many gift ideas to offer and I believe there is something for everyone to enjoy on their website.
First of all I decided to pick a canvas to gift my mum. I came up with the idea of choosing several photos of Maxwell and creating a large display of them. I decided to make the photo's black and white and added a black boarding to the canvas to ensure they stood out. When the canvas came I found the canvas to be of great quality. The canvas had a sturdy frame and the pictures on the canvas looked crisp and sharp. The canvas came with hooks. I thought this was a great touch as it would enable my mum to hang the canvas on her wall straight away.
Next I created my mum a key ring. I know my mum has several sets of keys which she carries around so I thought it would be nice to create her a new key ring which would take over one of her outdated ones. I loved the key ring when it came and I shall be purchasing one for myself in the next few weeks.
Finally I decided to create her a notebook which featured a photo of Maxwell on. My mum often carries a notebook around with her to jot bits and pieces down as well as using a notebook to create a shopping list so I thought this was perfect for her. The notebook has a thick front cover and inside the notebook has lined paper.

5 for under £5
Wednesday, 11 February 2015
It is half term next week and something which I love to do with Maxwell is get creative. This week's 5 for under £5 is craft related and features craft items which you can purchase for under £5!
I always find that lolly sticks are great fun to make other things with. I have made a plane out of sticks before, a little boat and little stars for Christmas. I love the bright colours of these, they are great for children.
Maxwell is obsessed with wiggly eyes and I have bought a few packs of these myself. Maxwell loves to add eyes to socks to create sock puppets and he often like to add them to wooden spoons to make spoon people.
I always find that we need glue sticks when doing crafts and I thought these were a fantastic price so I decided to share them. You can never have enough glue when it comes to crafts.
I find that paper always comes in handy when doing crafts. It is fantastic to make things with but it is also great to colour on, paint on, craft on and is a cheap item to buy.
Maxwell loves these little fluffy pom poms. They are great to make little crafts out of and can be stuck to one another with glue. Maxwell has created animals out of them but more recently has tried to create people out of them with the help of Mummy.

Maxwell's Christmas Eve Box On A Budget 2014
Tuesday, 23 December 2014
Last year we started a new tradition of creating Maxwell a Christmas Eve Box. I wanted to make it into a tradition to make Christmas that little bit more exciting. As always I wanted to do Maxwell's Christmas Eve Box on a budget this year so I shopped for bargains and decided to reuse some of the bits that we had from last year.
In Maxwell's Christmas Eve Box 2014 you will find:
Orchard Toy Christmas Surprises Game: I bought this around July this year and I payed just £4 for it. Maxwell is now at the perfect age where he can start enjoying games and he adores the Orchard Toy Games. They are great to help with learning and development. This item will feature in many more Christmas Eve Boxes.
2 Snowman and Snowdog Crackers: I picked up a pack of these for £1 in the January sales this year and I have saved them for Maxwell to enjoy this Christmas. I shall save the rest of the pack for next Christmas as I think 2 is plenty for Maxwell to have in his Christmas Eve Box.
Disney Pjs: These were a bargain which I picked up in Tesco. Tesco has been one of my favorite clothing shops this year due to there highly reduced items. These Pj's normally are priced up to £5 but I spent just £2.50 on them. They are themed with Maxwell's favorite Disney character and I think he will love wearing these on Christmas Day.
Santas Magic Key: No box is complete without a key! I have always taught Maxwell that it is important that we lock the door behind us when inside for safety. I would hate for Maxwell to grow up thinking Santa was a intruder. This was in our Christmas Eve box last year so of course this year it cost us nothing.
Peppa Pig Chocolate: Maxwell adores Peppa Pig still and watches her daily so I knew she would need to feature in Maxwell's Christmas Eve box. Upon wondering around the 99p store a few weeks ago I spotted the Peppa Pig chocolates and I knew I had to grab a box to include in Maxwell's Christmas Eve Box.
Numberjacks And Smurfs Christmas DVD'S: This year Maxwell has not been interested in Christmas TV. His favorite film which has been on TV has been the Railway children and he has also loved watching the pantos on Cbeebies. These were the 2 Christmas DVD's which I purchased Maxwell last year, he loves Numberjacks and the smurfs so I am hoping he will enjoy watching one tomorrow.
Santa's Coming To Southampton Book: This was a buy last year which I adored. Since buying last year I have seen a lot of people have now purchased them for their children. I have to say the book is magical and the pictures are amazing. The book goes into detail about local places Santa will visit this Christmas and includes illustrations of local places as well. I think I payed around £6 for it last year and it is well worth the money. This book will be used for many more Christmas's.
Christmas Dish: This was a buy from the 99p store last year and I think it is perfect to add nibbles into but also to eat Christmas dinner out of. It is simple, childproof and a little bit of fun.
Soft Toy Santa: Maxwell is very much into soft toys at the moment so I thought this would be a nice little extra to add into his box. It is a simple soft toy from the 99p store and he is super soft. Maxwell adores talking on the phone to Santa this Christmas so it will be nice to tell him that he can talk to Santa on Christmas eve and Christmas day as he has his own soft toy version.
Magazine: I won a few magazines in a recent competition and I decided to save one for Christmas. Maxwell loves looking through magazines and he enjoys sticking all the stickers in the magazine once he has had a look through it so this is going to be a popular item in his box this year.
As you are able to see, Maxwell's Christmas Eve box cost me under £10. I didn't feel the need to go mad on his Christmas Eve box this year and I thought it was nice to keep it simple for him as he is still very young and I did not want to overwhelm him. I am looking forward to seeing his face when he opens his box Christmas Eve morning.

30 ways to save £1
Wednesday, 17 September 2014
Money can often be tight and sometimes it can be hard to save but here I have a list of 30 different ways that enable you to save £1 in money. Some of these ways can be harder than others but I find that most of the ideas are easy to complete.
- Sign up for loyalty cards. Remember to use them each time you shop. They are free to sign up to and you quickly accumulate points worth real money to spend.
- When sending post always look at couriers online before going to the post office and send with the best value.
- Keep wallpaper and paint samples. I have a lot in Maxwell's craft box and they come in handy when we do crafts.
- Read the news online rather than buying a printed newspaper. It is free and you are still able to read the same thing.
- Enter competitions. You have to be in it to win it! If you win, the item cost you nothing.
- If you have items laying around your home that you do not need try selling them at a carboot, Amazon, Ebay or on a Facebook page.
- If your selling on eBay, wait until free insertion week, no fee to put items up.
- Cut out all coupons you see or print any you see online. It can save you lots of penny's every week.
- Use your local library to borrow books, games, cd's, dvd's rather than buying them.
- Get a railcard if you use the train or get a season ticket if you use the bus.
- For short journeys walk. It will save petrol and money and get you fit.
- When you need to go shopping, try parking somewhere a little bit further away from the centre which will either be cheaper or free
- Limit yourself to only going to the cinema on Wednesdays with the Orange Wednesday offer at Odeon or go on a Tuesday evening to Cineworld when it is cheap.
- Never go to cash machines that charge fees for withdrawing money.
- When it’s cold leave the heating off and invest in a blanket to keep you warm.
- Do not buy services like sky. Make the most of iplayer, ITV player and other simular services. They’re free and often have some great films on there as well.
- Freecycle and Freegle. Both of these sites/ groups allow people to get rid of things they don't want any more. Everything on these sites are free.
- Make a packed lunch instead of buying expensive food at School or Work or when on days out.
- Recycle your old phone, you could make some money.
- Always switch the lights off if you're not in the room.
- Before you go to bed make sure you turn off all your appliances
- Search online for discount codes or free delivery codes before shopping online.
- If your in a restaurant ask for tap water - it's free.
- If you need your eye's tested, look for free eye tests.
- Buy designer clothing at outlet stores. We have picked up plenty of bargains in these for less than half price.
- When traveling use cheap airlines such as Ryanair or Easyjet.
- When you need your hair doing dye it. It is far cheaper than going to the hairdressers.
- In the January sales buy gifts, decorations, cards and wrap in advance.
- Check the clearance sections in supermarkets. Theres often some great bargains.
- Look out for baby events in supermarkets. Buy things in bulk. It makes things a lot cheaper.

Max Rates..... April 2014 Garden Addition
Thursday, 3 April 2014
As many of you know, we are moving. I thought it would be a nice idea to come up with a few ideas of what Maxwell would enjoy having in our new garden. I hope you all enjoy.
Maxwell already has this car carrier and it is brilliant. It is perfect for small hands as the cars and the carrier are both really chunky. The car carrier can be used inside and outside so it is perfect for not only the summer weather but also the winter weather.
Little Tikes Classic Cozy Coupe Ride-on
When I was smaller I had one of these Ride-On's and I adored it. It lasted many years and we found that it was of brilliant quality. I am unsure if we will get Max one as he has many other types of rides on however I can reccomend this to other parents.

Little Tikes Turtle Sandbox
I am keen to buy this for Maxwell when we move. I love that it has a lid, this means no nasty unpleasant things may find there way in the sandbox at night. I love that it also has 2 seats built in so therefor he can sit in the sandpit and play whilst being comfy and not getting sand down his pants.

I would love to welcome this pool into our garden. It looks really fun for the summer. I am unsure if we really have enough space for this however so Maxwell may just end up with a small paddling pool. Either way this is a brilliant price and I would love it to keep me cool this summer.
Maxwell loves crawling through these types of tunnels so we will be buying one for Maxwell when we move. The idea of this one is brilliant as it will allow Maxwell to push the balls through the holes also.
This little rocking horse is really cute. I think Maxwell may be a little to old for this now but it looks fun for younger children. Being small also means that it can be used in the garden or inside in wet weather.
I adore the idea of the hopscotch mat and I am keen to get Max one. Although he is still too young to do hopscotch, these mats are perfect for the garden if Maxwell was to fall over as they are very soft to land on.
This is a bargain and I love the fact that it comes with a parasol. When we move I am either going to buy Maxwell something like this, or I am going to buy a wooden picnic bench.

Max Rates..... March 2014 - Disney Car Bedroom Addition
Monday, 10 March 2014
If you are regular readers of my blog you will know that Maxwell has a Disney Car room. To fit in with our moving house theme this post is dedicated to Max's magical Disney Car room.
This is one of my favourite items which is in Maxwell's room. It is a lovely toy box which is fairly big. It is well made and has lasted us a long time without getting damaged although a toddler uses it every day.I believe it is great value for money and can be used for other rooms in the house other than your child's bedroom.
This is a nice addition to Maxwell's room which has not only brightened up the room but has been a great little accessory to have.
This is a fairly new addition to Maxwell's room and has not really been used yet, however I picked it up in the sale at a bargain price and I know it will be great for Maxwell in a few years to come.
Maxwell has this little set on his bed and it really fits in well with his other Disney Car bits. This set washes up well and can be bought at a good price. At the present moment Maxwell does not have a themed bed so this set makes a plain bed into that magical Disney Car theme.
This at first was hard to fit in Maxwell's room however after a little wiggling and patience we finally managed to get it to fit. I love that the shade matches the rest of the room. The shade itself lets light flow freely around the room.
Although this has quite bad reviews we have found it to be a great little product for Maxwell. It is fairly small and the material is not that thick but it is a bargain which fits into Maxwell's Disney themed room very well. This wont last you years but will see you through several.
Please note if you buy through these links I may be rewarded as these are affiliate links.

I picked this up a few weeks ago. It was a bargain and cost me just £7.50. This is more of a product for Maxwell to grow into however he loves the design of it and likes pointing at it.

Crayola - 24 Crayons Assorted Colours
Maxwell adores colouring and the best crayons that I have found so far are Crayola. They last longer than cheap crayons do and I love the mix of colours which come in a box. They are perfect for Maxwell's little hands.

OXO Tot Twist Top Water Bottle (Aqua)
We were sent this bottle to review and since we have had it Maxwell has been drinking a lot more which is great. I truly believe the cup is easy for him to drink out of and I love the design of it.

Red Dog, Blue Dog
Maxwell got this game for Christmas and this week he has really got into playing it. Maxwell enjoys matching all the cards up with the picture boards. This game is going to help him learn objects as well as pictures.

Mighty B Box
The mighty B Box is brilliant. It matches Maxwell's beanbag he was sent to review a few weeks ago. The beanbag is the perfect size for Maxwell to leave a few toys on whilst he relaxes on his beanbag. The beanbags are really well made and survive toddlers jumping over them.

Maxwell really enjoys playing with cars and other vehicles so this is the perfect little toy for him. I picked this up in the sale for him and he has really enjoyed playing with it.
This is another review item however Maxwell never puts it down. We got it in the hope it may help with Maxwell's speech and to settle him down at night however at the moment all Maxwell seems to do is play with it day and night.

This is a new feature which I have decided to do. I often get asked what toys Maxwell is enjoying or what has he been wearing so I thought writing a monthly post on my blog would keep you all informed in what Maxwell has been using.
Happy Hopperz Inflatable Deer Bouncer
Kerry from Ohsoamelia recommended me to buy Maxwell a Happy Hopper. Although Maxwell has not used it yet, it looks fun for Maxwell to enjoy indoors whilst the weather is poor and will let him burn that extra excess energy.
Vans Kids' Authentic Trainer
Maxwell has been wearing these with his skinny jeans and a nice thick jumper and coat. I think they look cute and everyone always comments on how trendy Maxwell looks. Vans are not just for little Boys, they also do Girls, Mens and Women's.
Mega Bloks Racecar Whirl N Twirl
Maxwell got this for Christmas and he adores it. He has just learnt how to roll around on it however sometimes gets frustrated when using it on the carpet. I can definitely reccomend this to any parents of toddlers.
VTech InnoTab 3 Learning Tablet (Blue)
I was wary about buying this for Maxwell as Maxwell is a year younger than the age it is aimed at however so far Maxwell has found it really easy to use. It has kept him entertained many a times and he even takes it into the car to watch videos on it. things.
Tomy Megasketcher
A.Rachel bought Maxwell a mega sketcher for Christmas. Maxwell really enjoyed using it and I found it to be cleaner than using pens and crayons, it is also great for travel so we decided to buy Maxwell one. So far he loves using it.
VTech Little Gadget Letter Friend
Nanny bought this for Maxwell at Christmas and I have found Little Gadget to be a huge hit in out house. Little gadget can tell the time, play games with your little one and teach them things. Maxwell especially loves the noises Little gadget makes. This is sure to keep your little one entertained.
Mega Bloks Deluxe Building Bag
Maxwell has been a huge fan of Mega Bloks since he was small. His love has continued to grow as he has got older and he has even started to collect different sets. Maxwell spends a good hour a day building
Beatrix New York Little Kid Pack: Alexander Backpack - Robot
This bag is great for toddlers. Maxwell loves using it and I have to say it looks super cute on. Although it is priced fairly high, it is brilliant quality and I think it will last Maxwell for quite a well. It is a good size to put all his belongings in for a day trip.

My New Years Resolutions 2014
Friday, 3 January 2014
Each year, I make a list in my head. I make a list of what I want to achieve and what issues I want to resolve in my life to make it that little bit better. As its the start of 2014 I thought it would be a great idea to put my resolutions on my blog and see how well I actually manage to stick to them.
Christmas 2014 for free - If you are a regular reader of this blog then you will know that I am aiming to get Christmas 2014 for free. I have made a good start already to 2014 and I am hoping that I stay determined to complete my goal through out the whole of 2014.
Spend more time with Ben - Me and Ben rarely seem to get to spend much time with each other any more thanks to him working long hours and quite a few days of the week. I would love to spend more time with him, going on date nights to the cinema and going out for meals.
Buy Max A pet fish - This is more of a want, however I would love to buy Maxwell his own little pet fish. He loves fish and enjoys watching them swim around at A. Rachel's house so I think he would really enjoy having one in our home. When I manage to save a few penny's, I will get round to buying him his own little tank and fish.
Continue to blog - This year I would like to continue to blog. I have not given up on my little space on the internet and I hope 2014 see's me continue to write on this space. I would love to improve my blog by getting a better camera to take photos and I would like to create new ideas which are unique to me.
Move house - As a few of my readers know, we moved not long ago however as a family we are not that happy here so we are hoping to move in the future. We are looking to move to a house with a large garden, with perhaps a small conservatory on the back which we could convert into a play room for Maxwell.
Go on a holiday - I have not been on holiday since I was 16 which means it has been 6 long years where I have not had a break. 2014 would be a brilliant year to go on holiday since Maxwell is that little bit older and Ben is able to get some time off from work. I would be grateful for a UK holiday or even a holiday abroad. I would just enjoy getting away.
Attend Britmums - Something which would complete my year would be the opportunity to attend Britmums Live 2014. I had such an amazing time last year, I would love to go again and meet a few blogging friends and learn new things. I am looking for a sponsor to sponsor me to go at the present moment, so hopefully someone will kindly be my fairy god mother and send me to have the best 2 memorable days of 2014!

Blogging My Way To A Free Christmas 2014
Monday, 30 December 2013
2013 was a fairly cheap Christmas for me. Most of the present I gave to people were either won, were freebies, recycled or were cheap however I still think I could have done better and got Christmas for much less. 2014 I have set my target to get everything for Christmas under £100, the £100 which I am using for Christmas 2013 was won this year (December) through a competition so the Christmas will still be costing £0 of my own money IF I manage to stay in budget.
I am staying hopeful that I will reach my target and every month I will be writing a post to update my readers on how my Free Christmas 2014 is going. I plan to:
I am staying hopeful that I will reach my target and every month I will be writing a post to update my readers on how my Free Christmas 2014 is going. I plan to:
- Collect as many reward points as possible - Tesco, Boots or Nectar... I will be making sure I get as many points as I possibly can.
- Use websites such as Top Cashback - When I make purchases on the Internet, I get a % of money back through the purchase. Nearer Christmas or through out the year I have the option to swap the Cashback into cash or vouchers for me to spend in stores such as Boots.
- Collect as many coupons as I can for food products to enable me to get lots of snacks/food in for free.
- Win as many items as I can which will help me get Christmas for free. This includes gifts, vouchers to buy products with and even food items.
- Use sites such as Instagc which reward me in vouchers for doing simple tasks such as watching videos and listening to the radio. Each month I am hoping to make at least £10+.
Overall I am aiming high. I am sure through out the year I will find other websites/ways to make a few pounds which I will use for Christmas and I am hoping to keep my readers updated on this.
I have already managed to get a few bargains which include 2 DVD's for Maxwell which cost me just 50p each which were on a supermarket glitch. The DVD'S will make perfect stocking fillers.
Wish me luck and I hope you enjoy following my journey! Here's to Christmas 2014!
Spooky Dip Halloween Game
Thursday, 17 October 2013
For our Halloween Feature, we have come up with a fun game to entertain your guests!
It's easy to make and most of the items you need to make the game are probably floating around your house. You can also pick some items up at stores which sell Halloween bits.
You will need:
A container - I choose a green plastic bin
Pasta - Different sizes
Search items - Plastic spider, Key, Plastic eye, Bottle of fake blood, Feather, Plastic hand, Plastic leg, Plasticine monster, Plastic teeth
- Gather your items you are wanting to use form around your house, they can be found at a cheap bits and bob shop or a craft store.
- Type up a list of the items. Cut it out for your guests to identify objects easily.
- Grab your jar and fill it with pasta, then add a few of the items at a time. You can dig the items down or keep them near the top, you can make it as difficult as you like for your guests.
This game can be fun for all ages and you can adjust the difficulty level for the ages that are playing. If you have a mixed lot of guests, you could always make 2 spooky Halloween games that would suit different ages!
You could arrange prizes for the fastest person to find all the objects.
We hope this game provides you a lot of fun!
Bargain Hunting #24 - Halloween Edition
Saturday, 12 October 2013
Make your own costume - If you think about how long a costume for Halloween is worn, it doesn't make sense to spend a lot of money especially on children's costume. The costume will normally be only worn once as your child will grow out of them by next year so why not make a costume yourself?
You could make your child a simple outfit by wrapping bandages round them and making the into a mummy or you could go the extra mile and make them a black tail - a stuffed sock full of newspaper, dress your child all in black and paint some whiskers on your child's face to make them into a cat. You could research the internet and come up with ideas but instead of spending £20+ on a outfit why not look into how to make one at home.
Make your own food - Buying Halloween themed food can be expensive, so why not make you own? You can buy trays of special Halloween cupcakes but if you were to make your own it would be much cheaper and a fun activity for your children to enjoy. There are many recipes online that people are happy to share with you, use some fun ideas and cook up a storm in the kitchen for a fraction of the shop price!
