Fireman Sam - Bonfire Night Top Safety Tips

Ahead of the clocks going back and with Halloween and Bonfire Night fast approaching, much loved hero Fireman Sam is launching a nationwide campaign to raise awareness of fire safety for children.

This October, Sam will be sharing his top tips to staying safe at Halloween and enjoying the festivities at bonfire and fireworks displays. Bringing these important tips to life, Fireman Sam and his team feature in animated videos that will ensure all members of the family are aware of  the potential fire hazards around these special events.

Mummy To The Max adores Halloween and Bonfire night and we can often be spotted going to firework displays. We also love to light little candles into our pumpkins as well as hold sparklers in our garden. As a parent I think it is important that Maxwell learns about fire safety at a young age.

Fireman Sam’s Top Tips

1 -  Light fireworks at arm's length and NEVER go back to a lit firework.

2 -  Always keep children a safe distance from fireworks.

3 -  Keep well away from bonfires and ensure that children are supervised at all times. Pets are best kept indoors.

4 - Always wear gloves when handling sparklers and hold at arm’s length. Once finished, put in a bucket of water.

5 - Finally, ensure you attend a well-organised fireworks display!

Fireman Sam and his friends in Pontypandy have released a series of safety videos which are a great way to introduce the importance of fire safety to little ones. They won’t think they’re being taught anything as the videos are fun but educational.

Maxwell is 4 and loves Fireman Sam. He has been watching Fireman Sams top tips over on YouTube and over the last week he is able to tell me clearly what tips he has learnt. As a parent I now feel that Maxwell is prepared for Halloween and Bonfire night this year. Maxwell knows many safety tips if any problems occur.
